CPL LOUIS CHARLES GOI , who died in Vietnam 3-18-68. Rest in Peace Butch.

The moving Viet Nam memorial wall is going to be at the phyco silo saloon this weekend . 15 miles from me. Will have to take drive if I can get o2 level steady and check it out. Saw it a few years ago in Kewanee. Very sobering experience.

Never been to the traveling wall, after visiting the wall in DC and not being able to bring myself to touch it (twice), I see no reason to visit the traveling wall. I have 6 friends with their names on that wall. I've seen each one's name but, can't bring myself to actually touch it. Honestly, it's more than I can handle.

I know your feelings, it is not uncommon. There is something within us from the war that can be felt by us alone. I find peace at Angel Fire N.M. Vietnam War Memorial. It is built on sacred Indian Grounds. I meet the man (Dr. Westphall) and his wife that started it. I looked forward to seeing him every time I went back. My third trip he had past on but I had the chance to visit with his wife. Angel Fire is tougher then the wall, emotions will get to you, but you will leave there with calm peace with in. If you go, go early to have time by yourself. It used to be open I think, 24 hours, sun rise was the best. It has hours now and does close, to many bad actors these days that would destroy it.

I first visited a Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall some 20? years ago. Prior to that I had been in D C and visited The Wall. The Park Service at that time couldn't locate Edward Meltzer LCPL Marines the guy Ross and I both went to school with. So at The Traveling Wall gave the Nice Lady the 2 names I was looking for along with the Wife's Uncle she was looking for. When I saw my friends name on that Wall I literally fell to my knees. A million miles away I heard the Wife say-leave him alone to my BIL. I have no idea how long I was down there but Finally regained my feet saluted and walked over away from The Wall to the smoking area and lit up. Got it all back in 1 bag and calmed down a bit. My BIL asked-what happened-he had Not served. I looked at him and said Paul-if I had 2 more lifetimes I could NEVER explain what I felt to you. I had that Same feeling(s) yesterday while visiting The Wall in Perryville Mo. All these years later those losses Still play on me and now as yesterday I AM looking thru water as I post this. RIDE SAFE.

Thanks for the information on the Angle Fire memorial. I (me and a friend how served in Viet Nam, I did not but was in the U.S. Navy at the time) have been to the NM on several bike trips. Had I known about it, I would have tired to stop.
My friend had never been to the Viet Nam Memorial in DC so, on one of our trips to New England and back, we stopped in DC. Took a bus into town (parked the bikes at a Honda dealership) and visited Arlington and then the "Wall". There were four of us. We let my friend make his own way to the wall and we waited for his return. We did not ask any questions, nor did he say anything.
Not having been in Viet Nam (or any other war zone for that matter) I can only reflect on what and how it makes one feel.
