As Ive stated Ross and I have Family and Friends and in Ross's case Brothers in Arms Names on the Vietnam Wall We KNOW. The Only reason I knew My Cousin Jimmy was buried at Arlington is because Ross told me. Now I am trying to figure ot where Tiny-Edward Alan Meltzer LCPL Marines D O B 01 02 1947 K I A   S. Vietnam 10 27 1967. Ross didn't get very far at the Arlington Graves registry our home town paper had the info of Vinces passing But NOT where he was laid to rest. As fer some reason I ain't gittin no younger and I'd like to visit his grave Before departing this life. Vince-Tiny was one of those guys you couldn't help but like. Definitely had a way with the Fairer Sex. Would LOVE to have the Honor of placing an AMERICAN FLAG on his final resting place. As always-T I A for Any and All help in this matter.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

I looked on Ancestry.com. I have some limited subscriptions because I am tracing family history. These are screen shots. There are hotlinks in the actual program that provide more information. Is this the soldier you are trying to find.

This is the headstone application.

If this is not the correct information, let me know. I will try till I find him or run out of options.

A respectful memorial day to you and yours. In remembrance of those who gave all.

HE much prefered Vince as opposed to Edward. Course due to his stature he was known as Tiny to his friends. And NO Surprise at all he Chose to join The United States Marines. Yet Another YOUNG MAN that perished for Our Country far far Too Soon.  Cry As was explained to me-We made a Contact when Joining The Military that MAY cost us our very life. Vince and I and Many Others did that FREELY. Connie-bout the best I can do for an explanation. RIDE SAFE.

Dennis, I'm betting that one Purple Heart Medal on his DD1330 was his last day.

"Over" is also typed in that block, so there may be more awards and decs on the back of that form.

Went to that Virtual Wall post and looked again. You're right Jess-also has the Combat Action Ribbon. And-Truthfully I did Not Know what it was. But all I did as drag the cursor over it and it came up. Anywho-thanks fer catching that item. RIDE SAFE.

The Marine (Navy, Coast Guard) CAR (combat action ribbon) is (roughly) the same as the Army CIB (combat infantry badge).

Though there are likely some technical/qualification differences.

I remember reading some being very unhappy when they served in combat in other than Infantry (Armor, Cavalry, etc) and couldn't get the CIB.

Jess you are right CIB is for the ground pounders the grunts. You do have to earn it. I was in aviation and to get the Crew Members Badge ( Crew Members Wings) you had to be a full time flying crew chief or door gunner and do so many combat flights and hours. The ground crew or those that would fly to get parts or take the casualties back to the rear did not count. That was the way or outfit did it in the 1st Cav, medals were not given away like candy bars in some places.
