Looking for a secure phone holder. I use my phone for navigation while riding (more so when I don't pay attention and get lost). I'm looking for a more secure phone holder that will keep the phone secure when you hit that pot hole or speed bump you didn't see. I'm currently using a leather version that uses magnets to keep it on the tank but would like it mounted up on the handle bars. Hoping someone has found one that works better than what I've used in the past. I always take a look at the different versions I see on bikes at our gatherings but rarely am able to get feedback from the riders.
Suggestions/recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

I purchased one from Amazon a few months ago when it was on sale for about 1/2 off. So far it's working well. Having a USB port at the bars for charging has been handy. My phone has an otter box cover so it does bite into the rubber cover slightly but I kind of like that it has some extra cushion. Mounted right next to the handlebar clamp and rotated horizontally both gauges are visible. If I recall correctly if it's vertical it will obscure the tach a bit in that location. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Z322LLM?ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details&th=1

I bought a ram mount x-grip. Thought paying more I would get the quality to go with it. However, after a few months the plastic cracked. Maybe I just got a bad one... nope... decided to look up repair ideas on line and found other folks making uses of the none broken parts. So, that's what I did. I still use it, seems secure enough, it just doesn't swivel any more.

I swore by the RAM Mount X-Grip for years, until I had the phone slip out twice. I then switched to this one. This one was extremely secure in my experience: https://www.rammount.com/part/RAM-HOL-PD4-238AUHowever, I had an issue where water got in the USB port while I was riding in the rain and had the corded charging going, and ruined the phone. I have since switched to this solution. If you get this one you MUST use the included rubber strap to keep it secure, but it goes on the BACK of the mount, it's a "set it and forget it" thing, not something you have to mess with every time you put the phone in or out. The only problem I've had so far is that when it's sitting in the hot sun for a long time the wireless charger will overheat and shut down. But other than that I'm loving this solution: https://www.rammount.com/part/RAM-HOL-UN14WB

I put the phone in my t-shirt pocket since I usually wear a longsleeve white one over it to help prevent sun/wind damage. I bluetooth it to my earbuds and get turn by turn directions in my ear. I always carry two sets of buds fully charged at the start of the trip but they usually last 2-3 hrs. each. Same with the phone, full charge at the start...lasts all day. If I get a call while riding, I can choose to answer it by pressing a button on the buds otherwise they can wait til I'm stopped somewhere.

Well, I've pretty much eliminated the versions/brands that use (what I'll call) an X type structure/frame and grips on the end of each arm. Have received several reports of riders who's phone hit the asphalt when they went through a rut or bump they weren't expecting. Phones are too expensive to be bouncing off the asphalt (even at slow speeds). Although, I'm known as a tight wad that squeaks when I walk, I'm willing to spend a few extra bucks that will hold the phone secure and visible. Quadmount is hands down the best. All kinds of options also they are on amazon
Leaning to the Quad Mount. Any one have one? Rams

Tackform does look interesting but, if you can't get what they are selling, well that will keep me looking. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll keep an eye out for them. Rams

Ron, I have had this phone mount on my Valkyrie and my bicycle since the 1st of April. No issues thus far at a reasonable price. Very easy to mount, adjust, it can adjust length wise as well as width wise. It also has a quick release button and the safety belt. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089SHV1JH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I use a ram quick grip phone mount. It works great and secures my phone. You can get one with charging but I opted not too.

I just ordered this last weekend and arrived Monday on Amazon. I've been skeptical of cheap Amazon holders, but was amazed at how heavy this one is. It's built pretty solid https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08L1463Y3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have the Ram X mount, but as has been said there can be some problems with it. Check out Quad Lock. https://www.quadlockcase.comThey have impact resistant cases that have a built bayonet twist lock on the back. The cases run about $30. Then you need the mount. There are several options. I have Ram mounts, so I would go with the one with the Ram 1" ball, but there are other options. There is also a wireless charging adapter for $75, or a USB charging option. I might have to pull the trigger on this setup.
