Evan,

Great seeing you again! Enjoyed your story about hiding in a ditch to escape the weather... I hope you'll share that with the rest of your fans...

send some or ANY rain to us here in WI been a drought for a very long time and excessive HEAT.  The pop up showers/brief downpours have been all around us but never in my backyard.    If this keeps up will remind me of 1988 drought year very hot and not much rain then either all summer long.

It rained all the way across 68 which is a wonderful road over the mountains
Just around where 79 hits 68 I saw big lightning and holed up at a gas station for a spell then went
down 79 in just drizzle to 50 west

About 30 miles or so in it started pouring to beat the band and I could not see one overpass for the next half hour.  Then lightning started striking pretty close as the sound was simultaneous with the bolts so I jumped off the bike at a road crossing, turned off my helmet bluetooth and sat in a low ditch about 30 feet from the tree line for almost an hour while it hailed and bolts came down  This was about 30 miles east of where 77 crosses 50 I believe

A bolt struck a tree on the other side of 50 closing it eastbound and trucks and cars just pulled over   That one and another really got my attention

Finally some family named Sprouts pulled over and I ran over and they let me set in their pickup for about 15 minutes tll the worst passed and traffic started moving so I got on the bike and no more heavy stuff from then on

I HATE LIGHTNING more than hail and wind    The news is full of stories about flooding now

Just lucky I guess.  Rainman you got nuthin  lol

Good story...exciting way to start off your Inzane week  Cheesy I've been there, in similar situations.... just gotta make do, and not challenge certain conditions. Good for the Sprouts... nice to see there's still some normal, trusting folks around  Smiley
