Figured I'd post a ride meetup, to see how many active Valk riders we have hanging around the Lower Mainland and this board these days, and see if there's any interst in meeting up.  Meet around 10:30 - 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 26th at the Hope River General Store, about 20  minutes out of Hope on Highway #1 just past Emory Creek. It's a good location with a big parking lot, gas, great food, and a nice area outside to eat and hang out. Hopefully we'll see some other Valks roll in... cooldude

I think I'm going to insure my bike on Sat. Need to get it out for some miles and see how it's running after it's long sleep. If I have, then I will attend.

I've texted Chris a FYI. Will try to contact Canoodle.

Chris is working, and Canoodle sold his Valk.

I insured the bike today, so I intend to be there.

Chris texted me last night, he got the Sat off work, so also will be attending.

I told Canoodle he's still welcomed on what ever he's riding, but he hasn't confirmed.

I'm actually off on the 24-25, our usual Valhalla days. Don't know what I'm doing yet, but am hopping it will include 2 wheels.

Mike,
My wife is in Calgary visiting our newest grandson so I will work on getting out of a previous commitment when she returns Thursday night. I would really enjoy meeting up for a ride this Saturday.

My Maps isn't working on my laptop, so I don't know the time/miles to get there from here, but Hope is just under 2 hours, and I think the Gen Store is what, 10 min past Hope on Hwy 1?

So just over 2 hours and shooting for 10:30 arrival, should mean a 8:30 am launch time leaving Richmond, via Hwy 17 and 1 through Hope.

You guys with the Tourers (there isn't any who've replied  Smiley what's your range on a tank, will it go from Richmond past Hope on a full tank, or a single stop to insure no one runs out?

No word from Christian yet?

Sorry for the late response, everyone.
I just returned from a 9 day trip last night...

I will take special care of my girlfriend this whole week and then sneak out on Saturday to meet up with you.

I am in Surrey, so if anyone wants to meet up and take either HWY 1 or #7 to the meet up, let me know.

Sorry George, I had forgotten to call you. I was wondering how your legs where.

My plan was to take Hwy 1 to Hope. Then most likely back Hwy 7.

Maybe we should change this plan, pick up Christian, then George, and go Hwy 7 to the Gen Store.

I could pick up Christian at his place on 108 ave, then across the Golden Ears to McD at 228 St. But I figure we'll need to leave at least 1/2 hr earlier, as the ride is a little longer. Leave Rich at 8, maybe Christians by 8:30, then George before 9 am? A little earlier, so we can great for 5 min if needed?

msb, how about stop by your place via Hwy 7, and meet up too?

Any spouses coming? Not Tess, she's working.

Gordon,
I can meet you at Tim’s on 200th and then we can get on hwy 1
If you come across the bridge it will cost a lot of time.

I figure Hwy 1 to Hope. Then we have all the time to come back what ever way we want too.

OK, so the Tim's in Langley on 200 St. Could do that.

What do you think, 1 - 1.5 hrs to Hope? So meet at Tim's Sat morning, and leave there at what? 9 - 9:15 am leaving.

Paul, how about you, should we stop by somewhere, I understand you are near Sumas and Hwy 1?

Hey Gord,
Alison still isn't back and I'd like to beg off our previously made plans in person......100% sure it won't be a problem. My b-i-l and I will probably meet you at the General store and then ride back with the group. I'll confirm Friday.

I found a work around for Maps. It shows 41 min from the Ferry to the Tim's we're meeting at. Would put you there about the time we want/should leave by, 9:15.

If you're for it, we could wait another 15 min, and leave by 9:30. It should put us at the Gen Store around 11 am at the latest. That way we'll be a nice pack riding down the Hwy. I usually travel at 70 mph, which I hope works for the rest.

We all show up at Tim's with enough fuel to travel the 120 km from there. Then gas up at our destination.

Awesome...will be great to see ya again Brian cooldude Yes, we can continue up the Canyon to wherever...I'm game. Or somewhere a bit cooler. Lisa and I rode up to Lytton this past weekend,  got up over 40°
Steve sent me his regrets via email...for some reason he can read these posts, but not respond. He asked me to let everyone know that unfortunately, he's getting a bit too old to ride that far, to make it down from Kelowna  Wink Wink Evil

Hey guys,
I too am unable to attend. That previous engagement I thought I could get out of can't be moved because we are leaving in six days on a four week trip and there just isn't another date option. Sorry.
I was really looking forward to seeing you all again. Perhaps some time in August.

The 4 of use meet up in Langley. Driving Hwy 1 past Sumas entrance, Dusty zooooomed past us. Coming from Victoria, he gassed up and we passed him and got to Hope River minutes before him.

msb, VanCityValkyrie and Dusty headed north on Hwy 1. George, Chris and myself headed back home Hwy 7. Missed all the cops, and saw the one RCMP do a u-turn to chase the racer who passed us.

George turned off at the Haney bypass, and Chris and I split north of the tunnel at 99/91 connector.

So the 3 of us should have all made it home safe. What a head ache I have, figure the heat, this was as bad as the trip to Spearfish in 15' thru the Columbia Basin WA. My temp gauge was showing almost 40C (102F) the whole way, from 35-48C when we hit the areas with water/shade, and the times stopping in the sun. My water bottle in my trunk was HOT water when I tried to drink it and pour it over me to cool me down.

Waiting on Mike for the pictures.

Paul, sorry you didn't make it, but then you had those previous plans. Let us know when you're back in town.

Was nice to see everyone again... not too often here that we get to see more than one or two old Valks together let alone 6 of 'em!! Nice to meet Chris... thanks for  bringing him out Gord... and thanks for making it over from the Island today Dusty!
Enjoyed the visit and brunch at Hope River General Store

Glad to hear that you, Chris, and George made it back through the heat and urban traffic, Gord. Me, Christian, and Dusty had a brisk and hot ride up to another neat little cafe stopover about 5-10 minutes North of  Boston Bar, where we stopped for a refreshment and to chat with a trio from  Vancouver on an HD, Indian, and Wing. Was 42.5°C on my thermometer. Too hot to continue on (or stop to take any further pictures it turns out), so we made an even brisker beeline back down the Canyon, with Dusty leading (if that officer hadn't already targeted that Tesla or whatever it was a couple minutes ahead of us just before Hope, he might've been writing up a Valkyrie or two instead).
Dusty split off at Hope to get on the freeway in hopes of making an earlier ferry, and Christian followed me on #7. Sure am glad not to have to go any further West than Aggasiz/Kent... hope you both made it home without too much traffic guys Smiley Man it is HOT!!  Shocked

We'll plan another meetup ride in a few weeks after I get back from up North... hopefully the temps will be back to normal by then.

Made it  home at 7:30. and after putting things away fell asleep on the front porch couch. I stopped in Abbotsford for gas and Timmy's for a drink. I was talking to an adventure riding couple who had come from Manning Park. It was 43 C up there. Had a good day, 600 kilometers  and carbon is cleaned out . Ready for bed.

After waving goodbye to Mike I kept going until shortly after the Sasquatch Inn and then decided to cool off in the Harrison river. Then stopped at the Deroche General Store for another litre of Gatorade before making the last stretch to Surrey. It was great seeing you all! Let’s hope we’ll have more “normal” temperatures the next time…

@MSB Saturday was enough heat and sweating for me. Some friends of mine went up to Pavillion Lake, back to Lillooet and Whistler. Then they called it and stayed in Whistler until midnight and then rode home. I have never ridden in temperatures like that. The swimming in Harrison River was just perfect.

Thanks to the heat, my oil is completely pulverized and needs to be changed/replenished and I'll 100% have to do the coolant my next day off but I had a good time, it was hot as ballz but 100% worth it to ride and meet some new buds.  Thanks again for inviting me Gordo.  Not sure if they'll ever give me a Saturday off again lol, but Sundays are almost always available. Your welcome Chris, it was nice having you along.  Now you need to look into the Valhalla Rally in Sept.
