YARFS - Yet Another Reason For Spares (for all of our newer members, and some not-so-new-timers).
I've laid in spares of almost everything which could screw up and leave me stranded, and I've laid in parts to rebuild almost everything that can be rebuilt. Those things which can't (U-joints, water pumps, etc.) are bought in multiple quantities and stashed.
Ditto with chrome and other accessories. If it's more than a passing customization phase, keep a spare on-hand in case of damage, rust, what have you.
I usually travel alone so I make sure wear items are dealt with before the kickstand goes up. If I'm going to be on the road for an extended period of time, my known associates have access to pre-boxed failure items...alternator, water pump, U-joint...even a complete rear end. This stuff can be overnighted if necessary. There's a Valkyrie-specific extra tools and small-spares kit that goes from bike to bike, depending on which one I'm taking for the day/week/month.
Round that out with a Stop-N-Go portable air compressor, a plug kit and a first-aid kit.
Yes, I have a spare (new OEM) clutch slave cylinder in Ye Olde Stash.
