Installed a second usb for a power cord under the fairing.  Soldered to an existing fused usb that is  surface mounted to the right side speaker housing as well as an existing digital volt meter .  All works well.  However now the headlights are not coming on.  I have a downloaded service manual but the quality is not good and I cannot read the wiring diagram.  Dags site isnt working.  Anyone have the diagram they could send me?   I will check the start switch to make sure the contacts are good.   I assume the headlight wiring runs through the boot located behind the steering neck and I did gently push the single usb wire alongside and back under the leather tank strap to the pocket holding the ipod.  I have no power at the headlight using a volt meter.   Correct me if I am wrong.  hot leaves ignition to relays and then on to head light .  hi low switch trips the appropriate hi low relay.  so there should be wiring leading from the hi low switch back through that boot as well.  Give me your input.

thanks  Warren

Check the grounds. Possible you pulled one loose, depending on how the original "addition" was done.

Warren, I have Rattlebars wire diagrams. I just need your email. I can't seem to find it.

I would look back through what you did and see if something might have come loose.

The I/S has two headlight related fuses. A 15A headlight fuse and a 5A *headlight relay* fuse. The 5A powers the wire that runs through the start button. From the start button, the 5A wire goes to the hi/low beam switch on the left handlbar.

The 5A wire then triggers the hi-beam relay or the low-beam relay on demand. The relays when enabled allow the 15A wire to send electricity across the relays to the headlights. The 15A and 5A wires meet at the headlight relays with the 5A wire being the trigger (86 pin) for the 15A out wire (87 pin).

Thanks for the responses.  As it turned out somehow I must have touched the headlight wiring and grounded it out causing the 15A fuse to blow.  Still don't really see how I could have done it but I'll keep an eye on it as the bike belongs to my wife and she follows more than leads so it is easy to watch.

Gordon   I have sent you an email

Ronw     I copied and printed your good explanation   thanks
