UPDATE!!!!
To date, 15 of the rooms are booked. This includes the unfortunate cancellations of several folks, who will definitely be missed.
We now have the room rates as follows...
One Queen... $100
One King... $105
Two Doubles... $110
Two  Queens... $115
CDN $$
That leaves 8 rooms left available for our group, so if anyone hasn't booked yet or knows of someone else who would like to attend, let's try to fill the place up.
For any first time attendees, the schedule of events listed on the below is just a general idea... it may be altered depending on the number of attendees. There are a few traditions that will take place regardless, but otherwise Valhalla is more or less a very casual meetup of good friends old and new and loosely planned rides through the BC Boundary and Kootenay regions.

Johnny's Motel in Grand Forks BC has all rooms blocked off for our 2021 Valhalla Rally September 9 - 12 in Grand Forks BC. You can now call and book your room @ 250-442-8242.  Book under "Valhalla Rally - Valkyrie Riders". Rates are not set yet, but will be similar to past years and should be posted up here later this week, or you can ask when booking. Good deal for us Canadians...Better deal for our American friends with their fancy US $. Wink

7291 Hwy 3 E.
Grand Forks B.C.
Box 876, V0H 1H0

There are 25 rooms of varying configurations, you can check them out @ http://www.johnnysmotel.ca/

We will be checking with Johnny's over the next couple of months to see how many reservations have been made, and if an overflow option may be required. There are a couple of similar motels in the immediate area if this is the case, and we will post them up at a later date.

For those that haven't been, Johnny's is a nice clean motel with a large parking lot off the highway and all rooms back on to the Granby River. There's a nice grass area with picnic tables in the back, where we can have a BBQ, etc. The motel is at the East end of town, off the main Highway #3. The town of Grand Forks is a nice small town with lots of places to eat, grab a refreshment, whatever...and is a staging point for some of the finest riding BC has to offer.

Schedule of Events will be as follows:
THURSDAY... arrive late afternoonn or evening. Meet & Greet in parking lot
... ride into town for supper and/or to pick up a few groceries and other "necessities" Grin

FRIDAY... grab breakfast and ride.
... arrive back at hotel in time for Supper
... Show & Shine Bike Show
... Firepit, Fireball, initiation of new attendees, lots of BS & fun

SATURDAY... grab breakfast and ride
... arrive back at hotel in time for Supper. If the BBQ's are available, we will pick up fixin's
... Firepit, Fireball, awards, lots of BS & fun, traditional gift exchange. Bring a gift ($15 max) to participate
                 * *Hawaiian Shirts are all the rage for Saturday Night!!**

SUNDAY ... grab breakfast & head for home

NOTES: It appears as if there's a decent likehood that the border will be open for "non-essential" travel (that would include old (or young) guys & gals riding Valkyries, F6B's, Wings, etc.) by the end of August or earlier. If it is, there may be a requirement  that proof of Co*** vaccination will be required to cross, so that should be checked. For our American friends, there will be plenty of time to cancel your reservation if for whatever reason the "powers that be" decide to prolong the closure...hopefully that won't be the case and we can all have a grand old time in Grand Forks cooldude

It looks like we are in ! I’ve spent all morning making reservations at places along the way. Brenda didn’t feel that her eye was up to a 3k motorcycle ride. So, we will be pulling the bike behind the motorhome. Staying a few days at Mammoth Lakes, Yellowstone, and possibly other stops. I tried booking with Johnny’s on their website. But it says nothing available. I assume you guys blocked it off. I left a message on their voicemail. I have a couple questions though. Is their parking lot big enough to park a 24’ motorhome pulling a trailer ? I will shop for a Hawaiian shirt. What kind of gifts are we talking about ? Gag gifts ? I’m not much of a Fireball drinker, but I assume some Molson’s won’t be frowned upon ?

Looking forward to hanging with my Canuck friends.  cooldude

@Meathead... that's exactly why you can't book on their website for that time. They blocked all the rooms for us riders. I just sent them an email and they got back to me within a couple of minutes. Pretty sure they will call you soon, too.
Just checked Google Maps, they should have a place big enough to park the motorhome.

Well crap.

I got drawn for every big game species I put in for so I had to move a bunch of my vacation days to November and won’t make it this year.

Would have been nice to meet you in person. You’ll have a great time. This group of guys and gals really is special.

I’m not much of a Fireball drinker...refer to Friday night "Initiation"

You’ll have a much better time hunting than meeting some crotchety old man.  Grin I was hoping you would be there though ! This ride has been on my bucket list for quite some time. I used to read about it on the old Vermin board.

I have a couple questions though.

Trying to get a room reserved for Petra and myself now, had to send them an email.
If the border opens and there is no requirement for vaccine we should be able to make this.
Been wanting to do this ride since we moved to Idaho, we are looking forward to meeting you all in person.
Not sure I'll be partaking in the Fireball, (Petra probably will) but I am sure there are beverages to enjoy.  cheers
Lets hope it all works out.

SteveH, nice to see you able to post again.

Meathead, will be great to meet up in person.

The gifts are an exchange. Donate a gift (hidden/bagged), get a ticket, then we draw numbers to go up and make your selection. It's optional, you don't have to go into it.
Everything from little gag gifts, to supper useful, and greatly appreciated ones. We all have a great time opening them. Sometimes the gift matches the picker so nicely its ironic.

As for the Motel, you should mention the Valhalla Rally when making your reservations.

For those crossing the border, you might rather stop by the Duty Free stores on the US side before crossing. If it's a planed crossing, most have web sites, that you can check out what items they have (booze).

Booked also, got room 15.

Now for the bad part. Tess is expecting some minor surgery around that time, and there is a high chance it will interfere in my annual rally date. This mean I'm not a guarantee show this year.

Darn, after being such a good boy and staying home and all that, I even have the bike insured, and now I might not be able to make it. It hurts. But then, I'll need to stay with Tess and administer to her every need (ah? that doesn't sound too different than everyday life with her?) during the recovery (no travel for her).

From the looks of things we will have to cancel our reservations, as most likely we will not be permitted to travel to Canada.
Sure does suck, we were looking forward to finally being able to meet all you wonderful people in person and being part of the event.

Nothing is for sure yet. They may not require vaccination records. Hold off on cancelling for a while yet.  cooldude

Haven't cancelled yet, but as it looks right now it wont happen, we're still hoping things will change. We are waiting until we get back from the Yooper ride to see if the situation has changed.

The rules are either posted or in effect on the 21st of each month. So I expect you have until Aug 21 notice to know what is happening for the Sept ride/crossing.

If history is any judge, there should be news on it by July 18-19. If I am reading the tea leaves of Trudeau correctly it looks like he will open the border with proof of vaccination. But, who knows, we thought he would open them back at the end of May also.
