I have the four horn setup on my interstate and over time three failed and I was sounding like a pipsqueak so I bought replacements and installed.  Now the horn sounds like an audio machine gun—ak-ak-ak-ak-ak! But nice and loud again with all four blowing.  Did I cross a wire or something? Am I shorting the system?  Did I buy cheap horns? What is the meaning of life?  Thanks in advance wise men of the Valkyrie!

I have BigBF quad horns, I guess that's what you have?

Once, on a trip, one of the un-loomed wires I had added
to my accessory fuse box shorted out. When I figured it
out and cobbled together a fix...

... the horns blew continuously. I'd wired them up blindly following
BigBF's instructions. When Gordon demanded to know "why the
&^%$!! did you do it like this? ! ?" I didn't have a good answer  Wink ...

Anywho... later, at home, I stripped out the BigBf wiring that
I didn't understand and wired them up like I thought they
ought to go... all four grounds to ground and a relay makes
all four hots hot... they work great now...

Highly recommend (if not already) using a high power relay that is activated by the horn switch.  Also, VERY important to use a relay that has a Flyback Diode installed.  Otherwise you'll have major voltage spikes produced that can mess up other parts of the electrical.
