A proposed bill by a determined funeral services company could make this happen in the Northeastern state.

Back in the days of the Viking warriors, most factions used to lay their dead on a boat and let it out to the sea. The boat was filled with hay and other inflammable material and an archer would fire an arrow at it. Once the boat lights up, it became a glorious burning ember until it finally burns everything including the corpse to a crisp before being engulfed by the water. These Norsemen were following the will of the god Odin, who wished that all dead men be burned with their belongings laid with them upon the pile, and their "ashes be cast into the sea or buried in the earth”, as per Heimskringla, one of the primary texts that serve as the basis for Norse mythology. The Vikings themselves interpreted this ritual in myriad ways.

Well, if you feel like you too would like to go out in such a blaze of glory, then you might find that your options are quite scarce here in America. As of now, Colorado remains the only state where you can officially be cremated in this manner. Let's face it, there are few ways cooler than this, and if that's the only place, then looks like Colorado is going to record a high number of funeral services in the coming decades. However, according to the Portland Press Herland, this might soon change. There were reports of a new proposal that was recently introduced in the Maine legislative assembly that may legalize this method in that state as well.

They can do what they want with my remains.  I won't be there.  A funeral of any kind does nothing for the dead but may help the grieving living.

me and the misses have had discussions about burials.  She wants to be cremated since waste of money for casket and plot of dirt in ground while I am not so sure.  I told her I will go first so do not care better tell the kids what you want done with her remains...

I hate to rain on anyone's funeral, but it won't work.  It won't burn hot enough or long enough to cremate the remains.  Poor little Johnny and Susie will be traumatized when the burned body washes up on shore in a couple of weeks.

Lots of reservoirs though - some pretty large.  Dillon reservoir has lots of large yachts on it - pretty funny, the captains are immigrants from Big Water places who still want to sit on their schooners at the pier and commiserate over refreshments on their sailing stories - now their current "sea" lets them enjoy the current tack for a good 20 minutes or so before they have to tack again.  My brother sails his yacht in races mostly on Lake Michigan - some are overnight or multi-day affairs.

I've never heard of this sendoff happening here.  But I don't monitor such news closely.

I’ve been telling my family for years that when I die I want them to rent a charter boat out of San Diego and feed me to the sharks.

It is now legal in Colorado to have your body composted.
You can become someone's ear of corn if you play your cards right.

Cadaver farms are often used to teach / show crime scene investigators what happens to dead bodies over time.

For myself - cremate me and spread the ashes where they will do the most good, or into the ocean - after harvesting all usable organs.

Just take me up in a helicopter and dump me out over Pelosi's house.  High enough to really splatter.

Just let me rot for a while in the hot sun (and no embalming).  And make sure I have smile on my face.

I think traditional burial is pretty barbaric.  If the family needs a service, have one, just don't use up good real estate planting dead people in expensive boxes (and screw the funeral industry taking big money from people suffering with loss) (real property is already too expensive).

Stack them/us up at coal fired power plants and get some return on the refuse.  For some people, this might be the greatest contribution to society they ever make.
