I just saw this on Facebook (yes I know), Cold War Submarine Veterans page.   And yes I had to made it a post because it did move me.

Johnny Cash on the Ralph Emery show, they talk about Burning The Flag. Johnny voices his feelings, then recites "Ragged Old Flag"


Johnny Cash wrote the song in 1975 in a Binginton, NY hotel room looking out a window at a courthouse.  And for those of us living in S.C., he did preform the song at the House of Blues on July 4th, 1997 (to the best of what I can find out which I missed ).
