Yah, I've fully accepted she's her own person and an adult, to make her own choices now... She at least took my tattoo advice:
-Make it meaningful. (The order should be "This thought is important enough to want it inked on my body" not "I want a tattoo, what should I get?")
-Get it somewhere easily covered by normal clothes.
-Never a spur of the moment thing, think long and hard on it.

She's been mentioning another she wants for years, I was kind of surprised this one came first.

So this just happened.....

I kinda thought she might try something like this, but she'd been very convincing that she wasn't gonna be able to come home for Christmas.

My own parent's were in on it and helped make it happen too!!!

They went to both of the triplet's schools and surprised them first, did the whole thing.

Best Christmas present I've ever gotten.

Heh, yeah, I noticed that pretty quickly too... She legit didn't know that finger meant THAT, and moved it to a different finger immediately...

Although, it's said that The Presidio has the highest marriage rate in the military (Since to get off base housing you have to be married evidently)

...and ironically, Goodfellow AFB supposedly has the highest divorce rate... And that's the  base most trainees go to after The Presidio...

Brief video of Kali surprising two of the triplets at school today:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9VhxZbYkEQ

(We have video of her surprising the 3rd, who goes to a different school, but unfortunately the principal paged to that sibling's teacher "Please send Serk Jr. to the principal's office, his sister is here to pick him up" which took ALL the surprise right out of it. )

That's cool.  I'm sure the Ecton family is thrilled Kali made it home for Christmas.  Merry Christmas!

It looks like the K9 Ectons were happy as well.  Good Boys! (or Girls as the case may be)

That is a cute video Serk.  I find it very interesting (well I guess expected really) that when Kali sort of stands free near the end of the video, she goes to "parade rest".

Training.....  It works when you do right.

Actually that's not stiff enough for "parade rest".  That would be close to "at ease".  Of course that may not be recognized by those with Navy experience.   Wink

Yeah I was thinking about that when I typed it but I decided to go with  "parade rest".  It is hard to tell the difference for us Navy guys.   Its still cool though....

Not the update I wanted to give, but it could have been much worse. Still could be.

Kali's been struggling in class, she got to a point and then just like she missed something and couldn't catch back up....

They're gonna give her a month off to recompose, then recycling her back into a fresh Farsi class starting over at day 0....

She'll also be assigned as a tutor for the upcoming class, starting 2 weeks before classes start to give the incoming class the basics, and what to expect, also integrating her further in with the other students... Hopefully...

I've been through a couple of phases in my work life where stuff didn't immediately gel. A step back, conversation with a manager and a few days or a week helped me get my mind cleared.

Probably a little too much "distraction."  Hopefully this scare will get her head screwed back on straight.   The tutor thing is a good thing... a lot of learning to be done in teaching others.

also glad they are working with her to keep a positive attitude and starting over so to speak.   I think tutoring would be a good thing to do as well cannot hurt.

Both my kids in college did some tutoring/educating and enjoyed it.  The older is now a teacher but she did internships at 2 schools before graduation as required to do for credits.    The younger is helping college teachers in his field of study grade papers and other class stuff for a few hours after his classes a few days per week and getting paid for it, although pretty much minimum wage.  He even now age 21 but was age 20 got picked by his teacher to go to a female high school students house to help her with her chemistry/biology homework after school.  Not sure, but is some kind of tutoring the college has to help high school students learn in their field of study.    He told me he was shocked when he first met the female high school student was at home ALL BY HERSELF with NO parents around after school.  Makes you wonder how any parent could NOT be home NEVER meeting a strange boy age 20 to be left alone a few hours with say a 16 year old high school student.    I would never allow it as a parent as am sure most of you would not either before FIRST meeting the boy at least.

Cookie, if I was your son and showed up to tutor a HS kid (esp a girl), and no parents were home, I would not go in at all. Call me when your folks will be home and I'll come back.   Or maybe a library study room.

Discretion is the better part of valor (and covering your ass).

Mike Pence will never be alone with females not his wife, and that is a very good plan.  Esp for politicians.

While I was going thru my "A" school at N A S Memphis one of the E 5 instructors gave me some advice which HELPED. Stay OFF the beach-liberty-during the week while attending classes. And do NOT git drunk Sunday. I HAD to pass the "A" school in order to advance in rating. And following the E 5s advice I Passed and went out into the fleet doing pretty much what I was Trained for. Kali IS away from home AND NO longer under Parental Control! She IS in FACT under Complete CONTROL of The U S Army. Will NOT make a blanket statement here but most of us here Survived our time in The Military. BUT if She want's this She HAS to Buckle down and git after it! And Military schools are NOT like civilian schools. The smarts She has Must be APPLIED. Getting put back is Not the end of the world. I have NO clue shoulkd she be set back a 2nd time. RIDE SAFE.
