The engine was started at exactly 7am.
From Surrey I rode to Hope via Hwy1 and said good morning to Rambo.

From Hope I took Hwy3 and rode up to the lookout at Manning Park.
Spectacular views and I had it all for myself.

Following Hwy3 until Princeton, pic taken at the airport.

From Princeton I took the "Old Hedley Road", running the same way as Hwy3, just on the opposite side of the river. No traffic and beautiful scenery. Then back on Hwy3 and stopping in Keremeos for this image...

Taking Hwy3a North from Keremeos until the turnoff for "Green Mountain Road". We rode that one on our trip a couple of weeks ago and I wanted to do it again, just spectacular.
From Penticton I rode up to Peachland and then took the 97c to Merritt. Nothing to see, it's a 3 lane racetrack in both directions.
Following the 97c I stopped at "Highland Valley Copper Mine" along the way.

Shortly after I came by a wildfire with 2 helicopters battling it. Standing there and feeling the strong wind and knowing how dry everything is, I can understand how crazily fast these fires can spread.

10mins later I arrived in Ashcroft and could see the fire from the other side...

From Ashcroft I rode to Cache Creek and then took the 99 towards Lillooet. North of Lillooet there is another fire burning. I think this one has been going on for several weeks now.

From Lillooet I took the 99 towards Duffey Lake for a mandatory stop.

Squamish to home took me more than 90 minutes, bumper to bumper, apparently due to a motorcycle accident that happened earlier.
Here's the route from the ride...

And the total distance ridden...

I arrived back home at 10pm. A great day in the saddle!
Riding this close to the wildfires gave me the shills again though. And reminded me of Kenny. Maybe some of you remember "Weird Kenny", Kenny Glasgow from my post about visiting his place in Lytton. They could save his house but the shop and his artwork all burnt down during the Lytton fire.
Kenny's place before the fire...

Sorry for drifting off a bit from a ride report, but everything I saw yesterday made me think a lot.
