On Fox News this morning they had a story about a new super dooper jet fighter that the Russians just unveiled. They said it is smaller than other current Russian jets with enhanced stealth capabilities and could reach speeds approaching twice the speed of light.
I had to back it up and listen to it a second time! It seems no one on the set or in the control room caught it, as they went right on with the segment.

It came out of Cern

Got to admit that is pretty stealthy at twice the speed of light. They can go BACK IN TIME to shoot you down.

That she said it is one thing, but that the other talking heads chose to banter about the drone capabilities instead of calling out the blooper is a whole other level of "Huh?" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiUd3DNoRvw

I thought at least the producers in the control room would have caught it.

I doubt that may of the on air personalities have had much science/physics education. I suspect a lot of the sound and production engineers got a laugh out of it though.

Just as a curious W T F isn't twice the speed of light Warp 2? I read the article on the new russkie jet and It's sposed to be twice the speed of Sound approx 1400 M P H. But most of us here already Know That. And some U S Combat jets fighters are already there. RIDE SAFE.

It would be something for sure. A plane traveling at twice the speed of light would go around the earth 15.5 times in a second

They certainly should have caught in the following banter. If it traveled at more than the speed of light it couldn't be flown by signals external to the vehicle.

If it traveled at more than the speed of light it couldn't be flown by signals external to the vehicle. It's possible (Theoretically) that they found a way to utilize the "Spooky action at a distance" component of entanglement theory of quantum mechanics as a communication method, thereby, maybe (People with lots of letters after their names and very full white boards have been debating this for years), possibly, allow for communication that happens faster than would be possible at the speed of light.

I haven’t been able to duplicate it but on my wedding night, I made to the bed before the light went out. Does that count?

Close but that is not faster than the speed of light but only faster than the speed of electricity. Considering that the electrons themselves are moving at less than 1 cm per second on your typical lighting circuit...

My question is if this plane is traveling faster than the speed of light and you turn on the headlights, what happens?

I think it all boils down to Einstein's fear of relatives.
