My daughter, as we were on our recent trip, provided a comment that Virginia Route 8 was a very scenic ride.

Just wanted to know if anyone has ridden that road (NC to VA) and was it worth the trip/ride?

Thanks.

I just looked. It made me think: there's a bunch of NC east
of I-77 between I-85 and I-81 where I've hardly
ridden at all. I've been through the stretch through Independence, and
Meadows of Dan because of the Blue Ridge Parkway...

If memory is correct Route 8 is near Floyd, VA. At least part of it.

I've ridden rte 8 serveral times, I would get to it from Tuggle Gap off the Blue Ridge . Great motorcycle road, mostly down hill and lot of curves.  You would not be disappointed riding rte 8.

Thanks Hibinder.  I will put it on my list.  Next trip in that area will be heading east to Richmond to visit my daughter at her new home.

But I will tell her she got good information on the route.

You can pick up route 8 in Winston Salem, NC

I'd ride it from there to SR 40 in VA and then Ride SR 40 to Blackstone, VA.

At Blackstone you can pick up US 460 to Petersburg and Richmond.

You could pick up US 360 at Keysville, VA and take it to Richmond.

Not as scenic but it's quicker.

Thanks.. I will give it a look...   We will be heading to the Richmond area from Galax, VA.  We just did a trip there and it was a very nice ride (well except for the rain the first two days).

I think that you'll enjoy that route.

If you're hungry when you pass this place, stop in:

It's an honest to goodness "beer joint" that is famous for its hot dogs.
