In nearly 700,000 miles I've never had a plastic bag get melted on a motorcycle exhaust pipe -- until this week. Any suggestions for removal? I've read a dozen online and they all say it's a lot of work and the results weren't great.

I ran over a bag of garbage early one morning in the dark. It got hung up and melted all over the pipe. By the time I got off work and back home it was pretty crispy on there. What worked best for me was a copper penny scraping it off. Some copper pipe would probably be softer and work better. I tried oven cleaner without any luck.

Smart n Final sells a product called Carbon Off. I’ve used it and it works.

You haven't really lived until you suck up a dry cleaner bag onto your Hooker header corvette manifold pipes. It's tight as hell in there, bending over the side scraping and rubbing.  Fortunately, it's not visible unless you raise the hood.

I'd get them hot, so the goo came off easier, and you burned your hands and arms easier too.

Goo Gone and oven cleaner is a good combination. Sharon's plastic boot heels seemed to love the Tourer's pipes and I was cleaning remnants of them off seemingly once a week.

It's been a while but in the past I've heated up the pipes again then used crumpled up aluminum foil dipped in a little water to scrape it all off.

+1 if performed gently.
