Joe Humphrey, Mary Jo's husband is organizing a celebration of life for Mary Jo who passed away following an accident while they were attending Inzane in Ohio.  This will take place Saturday, August 28, 2021 in Valparaiso, Indiana.  We will gather at Joe's house in Valparaiso (230 Hampton Manor, Valparaiso, IN 46385) at 9am and depart from there at 9:30am.    Joe has planned a 2 hour ride and will have Mary Jo's ashes with him to scatter along the way.  The ride will end up back at his house where there will be food and beverages available for all who attend.

The hotel we will be using is the Holiday Inn Express at 1251 Silhavy Road South, Valparaiso, IN 46385.  Call them directly at (219) 464-9395 to make your reservation.  When reserving your room, please mention that it is for the Memorial Service for Mary Jo Humphrey and they will give you the bereavement rate of $99 per night.  We are planning to be there Friday and Saturday nights.  They are expecting to sell out for that weekend, so please do not delay in making your reservation.

I would love to see a large turnout from our group be in attendance to again show our love and support to Joe and his family.  You can come on your bike or in a car!  All are welcome!

If you plan on attending, please let me know, as we need to get a head count so we know how much food is needed.  You can send me a private message or email me at motomama.vrcc@gmail.com.  Several had responded earlier that they would be attending.  If that is still the case, please confirm it with me.  We have to let the caterer know how much food is necessary to feed us.  If you have any questions, or need more info, please contact me.

I'm trying but can't promise/commit until I clear some obstacles.

Unfortunately, I pretty sure I won't be able to make this memorial.
Just too many obstacles to overcome but know that my thoughts and prayers will be with all those in attendance.

The Holiday Inn located in Valparaiso is not going to honor the $99 bereavement rate for us.  There are other hotels in Valparaiso, however they are all a bit pricey.  The least expensive in Valparaiso is the Super 8.  Carl and I cancelled our room at the HI and I booked a room at the Baymont (about 10 miles away) in Portage.  You all are welcome to stay wherever you like, I just thought I would pass along this info.

We will meet at Joe Humphreys house at 9:00 Saturday morning with kickstands up at 9:30.  Following the ride, we will return to Joe's as he is providing food for everyone as his way of showing his appreciation for those attending and the prayers and support for him an his family.

Joe's address is 230 Hampton Manor Lane in Valparaiso.

We will be arriving in town tomorrow evening and leaving to head home on Sunday.

I don't know what the rate difference is but the Holiday Inn is a much nicer place than the Baymont in Portage. FYI

Some of us are meeting at the Viking Chili Bowl for breakfast at 7:45 on the south side of Valpo. Come if you can

The ride went great. My wife and I met up with Lori, Carl and Joe on Friday night for dinner and had a great time.  We all met up at Joe's house at 9 AM and rolled out at 9:30. I led the ride down to Jasper Pulaski State Park which was one of Mary Joe's favorite places when the sandhill cranes migrate.
I had a prayer for Joe and his family and safety for everyone that attended. We got back to Joe's house about noon and what a feast we had. Pulled pork, brisket, BBQ chicken, baked beans, baked macaroni and cold slaw. Great refreshments and cookies for desert. We all sat around and shared memories of the club and Joe shared about his memories and their times in CA. I think we all made Joe happy and realize he has great friends and help remember Mary Joe which was the purpose. Thanks to all who attended and I should have taken some pictures but got caught up in the emotion of it all and did not. Maybe some others did and can share.

First I want to thank Joe for inviting us to his home. You are a great host. You did a good job on Mary Jo's she shed. I'm sure she appreciated all the work you put in. The food was great and he supplied shade to sit under which was much appreciated. Wizzard did a good job leading the ride, keeping an eye on the group. At least the bikes all stayed as a group. I understand the cars got separated but caught back up nicely. I got to meet some of Joe / Mary Jo's family. Really nice people. This is a good group of people we share a passion with.
