a/k/a Stuffy. '99 I/S Valk Roadsmith Trike

De Pere, WI (Green Bay)

The is the trike passenger seat that my friend Carman Allen has almost finished, just a couple tweaks and needs to pull down and fasten the front under the nose. To create the rear passenger seat, rather than use an aftermarket seat pan, I merely cut off the back half of the OEM I/S seat since it has a much better pan size and shape. I think it has turned out rather well.

This will be the passenger backrest. It's not applied to the pad yet but the tooling and sewing is done. He has added a little padding to the backrest that alllows the passenger to sit more erect rather than leaning back.  I'm like a little kid on Christmas morning...can't wait!  Grin

Here you can see the similarity of the theme he has carried through to the back seat on the trike. This picture is of my current leather still installed on the Tourer before I bought the trike. I think it's all going to look rather nice together when done. I was able to transfer the seat, backrest, and tank bib over to the trike. Don't ask about the fender bib, it's already spoken for but if it comes available I'll post it.  Wink

Beautiful! Kali had started getting into leather working before she shipped out (I know, I'm having to box up all her tools/spare parts/etc) and have a small glimpse into the skill and workmanship required to do that, and it's awesome!

Craftsmanship at its finest right there  cooldude

I loved the old seat you had and I’m certain I’ll be just as impressed at the finished product.

I don't spend money on frivolous things, bar hopping, fancy clothes or ugly women(actually no women). So when it came to what to do about the passenger seat/backrest I decided to go for it. It won't be cheap but it's something I'll enjoy for a few years and then pass it on to my daughter Toni & her hubby(just give it to them)...he has an I/S but always eyes my trike.  Wink

Carman is taking my old bike and plans to redo the seats and sissy bar on it for himself. He said it's kinda like keeping it in the family, we've been good friends for nearly 20 yrs. now.

Really like your idea of using the back part of the Interstate seat as your passenger seat.  Probably more comfortable but sure looks nice with the leather work.  Trike is looking great.

Thanks, my reasoning for doing that was quite simple. First...$$$ to buy a commercially made unit. Second...the OEM seat pan is much wider than aftermarket types, most of the aftermarket backseats appear to be based on the Std. & Tourer seat pan.
