I did search through 7 years of old posts before asking.

My right side cover keeps coming loose. There is no visible damage to the tabs but I cannot get it to stay attached. Can someone walk me through the successful way to mount this side cover?

First of all you need to insure the grommets aren’t worn out as I suspect.

To mount it I find it best to carefully engage the tabs first and make sure they are fully engaged and the seam between the side and center cover is even. Then pop the rear grommet on the post and finally the lower grommet

Big Bike Parts sells a grommet kit for $5-$6. Part #52-691. It has all the grommets you need.

You could squirt a little RTV silicone sealant on the old grommets.  It will harden up but stay rubbery, and come off when you need it to.

Here's Sandy's parts.  https://www.amazon.com/Show-Chrome-Replacement-Grommets-52-691/dp/B0012TYYKU

Are all the wires tucked away from the cover, could they be pushing on it, not allowing the cover to seat properly?

This forum sorely needs a Like button.

I used to patronize Crossroads and Gatto Cycle in PA when visiting the in-laws way back when. We'd stop at one or the other on the way out, and invariably a couple small items would find their way into the saddlebags. Several sets of those grommets came home over the years, just in case.
