Is a 2 shot protocol for shingles. And it's supposed to be better than the one shot I had back when I can't recall! My annual physical was yesterday ay my V A Clinic. And I took the Shingrix vaccine. And they gave me a 2 page sheet with the warnings and possible side effects. I left the clinic went to breakfast where I usually put on the feed bag when in West Plains. Waitress brings my coffee takes my order and couple minutes later my breakfast arrives. While I'm eating for lack of a better description I felt weird physically. Shook that off finished breakfast and decided to visit a Friend in W P. While visting my weird feeling got a bit worse. Went back to the V A Clinic and about 5 mins later I'm back in an exam room and another Nurse reclines the chair/table thingy I'm on and hooks up an E K G monitor. Checks my B P and O2 and turns on the E K G. First one showed me a little tense-ya think?-but the 2nd run thru comes back as normal. And after I was sitting back up I felt a Lot better. And Dr. asked me to just chill yesterday and today. NOT dissin the vaccine But be aware of side effects. And the injection site is Still a bit tender. And I slept staight thru for near 8 hrs. Nowhere near as bad as the shots I got in Boot or before going overseas or the ongoing shots while in The Navy. RIDE SAFE.

ANY vaccine can have some side effects as you build immunity. You might live through it.

I have been told, by my personal physician, that I should get a shingles shot. My wife was told the same thing.
A few months ago she had a "shingles" episode. Nothing major and just took some drugs (forget all the stuff).
I shall have to ask my Physician about the Shingrix. I think that is the one on the sheet she gave me but will have to go pull it back out of storage.
The only reason I have waited are the reported (as here) side effects. My wife episode was nothing really. So.....

Whenever I get any type of injection in the last few years (COVID, Shingrix, flu etc) I make it a point to vigorously move my arm around in circles, rowing and/or swimming motion for at least 15 minutes. So far, reactions to shots has been minimal. I have NO CLUE if this action has any effect on the shots but it SEEMS to be working for me but your experience may differ.

It gets the medicine out of the muscle quicker, so less pain/tenderness of the arm. It won't make much of a difference for other side effects.

e. Carolina, what are you doing trusting a female doctor!!!? : If you get shingles don't count on it reflecting your wife's experience. I know but there is an answer to your question. She is the daughter of the doctor I had for about 30 years. When he retired he recommended his daughter and we took up his recommendation. Yes, I was surprised that my wife's episode was so "mild". I will wait until the winter to get the shot, depending on if I have to or deceide to get the COVID booster, so it won't affect my riding.

I had my first Shingrix vaccination a few weeks ago. Supposed to get the second one 2 to 6 months after the first. My arm was sore for a few days, that's all. Both my parents had shingles and especially for my Dad it was very painful and he had it externally in THE worst place if you know what I mean. So if you had chicken pox when you were a kid like I did and you have made it thus far to a ripe old age you should consider getting the vaccination. By the way since I don't take any prescribed medicines and have not met my deductible for that reason it cost me $193 for the first one. I suspect the second will cost the same.

I was actually just being facetious poking at a friend of mine. I'm sure she's a good doctor.
