Carman...doing my leather work, is putting studs across the top of the passenger backrest but needs to know how far down the sides he can go before the speaker housing comes into play. Can someone measuer from the top down, looks to be about 6" before hitting the speakers. Maybe lay a straight edge like a ruler across the top and measure down to the speakers. Really would appreciate it. TIA!

Mine measured 5 inches to the top of the speaker vertical.

Your 6” measurement is a very good number. I measured using a digital level down to where the top of the speakers are level with the side of the backrest. That measurement is 5.875”. Also I ran a tape line following the welt stitch line and that measurement is 24 inches. So center of backrest to top of speakers for a layout would be 12”. I would put a space at the end, not a stud. This is all from  a mounted ultimate factory backrest with the newer forward angle.
