When will the ridiculousness end?

I’ve never attended Notre Dame and never followed their sports programs. I don’t know anyone who attended Notre Dame or played sports there either, but I did enjoy the movie “Rudy”.

The history of the school has piqued my interest from time to time and as a Catholic as well as having some Irish heritage I can say “The fighting Irish” has been a saying I’ve enjoyed throughout my life.

My wife being 100% Irish (and a second generation US citizen) has that spirit and can tell stories regarding her ancestry and their antics living in Ireland and here in the states as well.

Her father and mother were the epitome of  “The fighting Irish” and were extremely proud of their heritage, it’s not a derogatory term and the mascot isn’t a symbol of anything bad.

This is an attempt to cancel out the heritage and history of the school. This is an attempt to rid the world of the knowledge that yes the school has Catholic background with Irish ties. White Catholics need to be eradicated and everything they’ve done erased.

It’s a bit early to go off on a rant but this is such BS.

My father-in-law was that leprechaun, and I’m proud to have watched over him in his final years. He has bolstered that fighting spirit in me and my wife and I think even my kids as well. There is nothing wrong with standing up and “fighting” when necessary.

The cancel culture is here because we are lucky enough to live in a time and place where no one (seemingly) has to struggle all day every day just to survive with shelter, water and food.

Most everyone gets food and shelter, and grades (regardless of work or intelligence), schools which reward and support and teach cancel culture mentality, and internet and a voice on social media, and media giants that love cancel culture and spread it far and wide.
