a/k/a Stuffy. '99 I/S Valk Roadsmith Trike

De Pere, WI (Green Bay)

« on: August 31, 2021, 11:48:17 AM »

Came today from Carman, great fit, thought I'd share.

Detail on the back of the backrest.

He's now making a drape/curtain to cover this area between the bottom of the backrest and the seat. Not sure why Honda left it open for all the world to see this ugly stuff. Remember, the back seat is the back portion of a stock I/S factory seat. I cut it off and shaped it a little before sending to him, he did the rest. Re. the drape, we had to wait for these items to be installed so I could get accurate measurements for the drape.

Knife sheath for my dad's shop knife. Other than his love and dedication raising me by adoption, this is all I have that was his. He outlived mom and gave their house to my sister & husband. That has a familiar ring to it! So I sent the knife to Carman and this is what he came up with, it also has a loop on the back to run your belt through. At the top you can see dad's initials, same as mine.

Next time I'm out on the trike and have a good background I'll do that. Once the drape is in place I want to take a post shot and have it framed...thinking about waiting until The Mountain Man applies his touch.

WOW…just WOW!!!

I’ve been waiting to see the final product and it’s fantastic. Craftsmanship at its finest.

Adding the skirt/drape on the back is going to be a great addition too.

That knife sheath is a real nice piece of work too.  cooldude

Not to be a debby downer, but you know that is just the kind of thing a certain kind of person will like to maliciously damage/cut/paint/stain just from jealous, psycho spite.

(for instance) My wife's super nice new car paint job was keyed three days later in a Walmart parking lot in broad daylight.

Well Debbie  Wink, this says it all...stay away from places those types frequent .

My Valkyrie won't even allow me to get anywhere near a mall or overly urbanized area...get within 25 miles or so, and she has a tendency to start shaking and turning hard Left until she's done a 180. I've learned not to fight it  Smiley

Yeah MIke, I rarely leave my bikes anywhere I can't keep an eye on them, and except for quick stops at convenience stores (in daylight), I do no shopping with my bikes.

I did ride to work (in DC) on rare occasion, as it was a quarter an hour meters (where car parking cost you thousands of dollars per year), and I could look out of my building windows to keep an eye on it.

So what did I see, a big passel of Japanese tourists were dragging their children's shoes over our gas tanks to take pictures of them on the seats.  I ran down there and ran them off with menacing behavior.

Go over and sit your kids on the White House fence for those pictures (just one block away).     Grin

Another time, probably the world's last surviving Am. civil war veteran drove his car in and backed it over another guy's bike.  (This was USDVA HQ in DC)   Nice old gent, but he was 150yo if he was a day.

Here ya go, it's a 4" blade so probably not legal to carry like a small pocket knife. The handle is wood, can't tell what kind, and the ends are encased in brass which I polished a bit. Don't really want to do much to it, want to remember it as it was in his hands. It is quite heavy...and sharp. You can tell it's a locking blade by the extra lever sticking out on the opposite end. It shouldn't be out like that, but...it's not new. He was a master craftsman working with wood and had an extensive woodworking shop for as long as I can remember. I still have some of his creations.

The trunk looks like Roadsmith raised it up quite a bit from the stock height.

Not by much...if at all. Out of curiosity I might find a good reference point and measure it, then compare to my son-in-laws I/S. One thing I've noticed, my seat isn't as comfortable on the trike as it was on the Tourer. Tourer had a bit of a rake, lower in back and it made you sit back in the seat real nice. On the trike it's flat and kinda jams me up in front, thinking I might try pulling the forks again after talking to the tech dept. at the plant. Might need to add a couple spacers in there to raise the front a tad, that's what most bikes need when using an extended fork kit like my 6 degree trees.
