I hit a deer and bent up my radiator hose protector, (the only damage). I have a new one but since the old one was mashed up a lot I do not know wether the hose clamps were intended to clamp over the spring protector or does the spring reside in between the hose clamps?

Thanks

The spring is held in place by a couple of turns going over the clamp not under it between the hose and clamp
