I rode up to the grocery store to check with the inside pharmacy about refills I had asked for this morning.

As I was parking the bike a young boy got out of the car next to me.  "Your motorcycle is really cool!"

"Thank you."

Inside the store I got into line at the pharmacy window.  I was first in line after the man at the window.  To the left, not directly in line was a woman, not particularly young but not so old as I.  She told me, "I'm in line.  I had to go over here to talk to the pharmacist and didn't want to go all the way around.  I just didn't want you to think I was pushing in."

"Not a problem.  I'm in no hurry."

Before I got to the window the pharmacist called me over to discuss my order.  They hadn't yet gotten the necessary reply from the physician's office.  He asked me if I was out and I told him I was of one of them.  He gave me five day's worth and said they would just take those out of the order when they were able to fill it.

As I was walking to the door the lady said to me, "Thank you for being patient." and I replied, "No problem at all."

In the parking lot I took a few minutes to suit up.  The lady from the pharmacy line was putting her stuff away.  I started the bike up and pulled around to where she was opening the driver's door of her car.

I addressed her.  "I learned a long time ago that being in a hurry and worrying about my position in line caused me a lot more stress than I needed."

"That's good.  You're a good man.

"There's some disagreement over that."

"Are you married?"

"Yes, I am."

"I'm sorry.  You're a very good man.  They're hard to find."

"Y'all have a nice day."

It's been quite some time since anyone told me I was a preferred target for marriage.  I guess it pays to ride a cool motorcycle.

The only way to know for sure is to duplicate the same situation while driving something other than that cool bike.

This I know, I don't get near as much attention when I drive my one ton Ram as occurs on the bike or the trike.

Her loss, I reckon.

I was just kidding about that old people comment in the other post, didn't mean to give you a complex or anything!  I'm sure you're still a rare-earth chick magnet!

It is a really cool old bike.  Carry on!

Interesting indeed. Wink I also have had some similar interchanges, I still wear my wedding ring most of the time and a couple times it was noted with the comment "you're married I see."  Me..."no"...her..."that's a wedding band isn't it?" Me..."it used to be, now it just serves as a memory band." Trouble with such doings at our age, many of the grandchildren are older than those we have met in such interchanges. The bike and now the trike are good conversaton openers for sure.

Carl - there is some wisdom in your original post - I think I'm going to try to keep that in mind....

She might have been hitting on you, or just praising you.

She certainly was pleased with your common courtesy, which seems harder and harder to come by these days.

Common courtesy (and a bit of friendliness) gets me some occasional attention when I am out getting supplies.  I don't do it for the attention, it's just a habit I can't seem to shake.

LOL! Apparently you and I live in very different worlds with very different standards.  If I had been one to pursue it certainly would have changed her mind about how I was "a good man" and one that is "hard to find".   Smiley
