Do we have dates yet?   I assume mid June.   Planning a major coddiwomple and I'd really like to end up at the InZane destination at the appropriate date and time for the Early Bird gathering.

Rams
The dates we are looking at are June 13-17 with early bird being the evening of June 12.  Not set in stone yet, but most likely this is when it will take place.

Thanks for the heads up I'm with Ron. A couple of us are making a 2 week run planning on making part of InZane in that trip and need an idea on the dates.  coolsmiley

My guess...

Park City UT

That location meets several of the requirements.

But, when you look at their website they "Nickle and Dime" their guests to death.

Unless, they were willing to concede those things, I doubt that the staff would pick them.

And unless Willow deliberately deflected my $64,000 question it's in the wrong area.

...there is a nice beach at Jordanelle.
Ah, I see your point, so nothing in the Salt Lake area.
Is Utah Lake far enough away from I-80, ya think?

Agreed! If I were traveling through the area it would not be a place I'd care to stay. I've never been to(chosen) a hotel with a "resort fee" to cover what most offer without that. It looks like it has everything...including high prices. Guess we'll see in the not too distant future. cooldude

If all works out next year, I'm hoping to attend InZane then continue on north into Canada along the Rockies. I want to retrace our honeymoon trip through the area & plan to take some of Rita's ashes to sprinkle along the way.

Just my SWAG from the photos/clues.
The staff did make a deal with the Double Tree in Asheville.
If an individual can get resort fee's waived by visiting the front desk, I'd imagine a group could...

Retracing your honeymoon sounds like a great ride.

Pretty sure not.  Hopefully anyway.  Lived there.  Too damn caliente.  Crazy traffic for a medium sized city too.

I believe some Serkle shrinkage is over due.  I can confirm that the site we visited is not in New Mexico, Idaho, or either Dakota.

Hmmmm..........

So, would the number of one of the main Interstates leading there, squared and then multiplied by ten, be the $64,000 question?

Definitely not.  (I don't see any sites with 80 interstates leading to them.)

I'm assuming that you're pointing out some sort of grammatical error.

I've looked and can't see it.

I thought that using "one" where I did made it clear.

Ah, I did indeed misread your question.  I think the answer is still no.

So had a mathematically inclined friend do some thinking on this, and with their assistance have a little more shrinkage of the Serkle.

And I think for the first time this late in the game, the Serkle has not only shrunk, but been split... O.o

The Bopsy Twins are still keeping it very cryptic, sent me the following pics today. I'm not getting much outta them though (Other than that Motomama has pretty toenails...)

Realizing it's not in the Serkle(s) anymore, I'll stick with my guess.
photo one - deer valley UT
photo two - gas light (what they're doing to us  2funny)
photo three - The yarrow is a flower (that flooring is in the restaurant)
It's near a beach and large elevation/temp changes.
Haven't found a corresponding axe throwing photo yet. It was already mentioned (something about swinging a dead cat) there's lots of 'em.
Don't know what to say about it's proximity to I-80 other than you can get there using several other roads. Wink

There are no real beaches in Grand Junction, unless you include all the sand bars that have been exposed in the Colorado River due to the drought and low flows.

Some people put in a guess by PM; because we can't really publicize the location until we have a signed contract.

I'm thinking Durango Co.
I guessed that a couple years ago. They said it’s too expensive that time of year. Plus, I don’t think Connie would have flown into Denver. But direct from Phoenix.
No beaches in Durango, unless you head up to Vallecito Reservoir, which is about 15 miles up the canyon out of town; no surfing or sharks thereabouts.

It's Frisco, right on Lake Dillon, about 65 miles from Denver on I70 with access in all directions for riding throughout the hills; north to Steamboat Springs, south to South Park, west to Vail, east to the gambling joints in Central City/Blackhawk.  Yup, I'll guess it to be Frisco/Breckenridge for the hat trick, Mr. Rob. Cool

Well, going back over the postings from the explorers on mission to find a location, I see that when they mentioned visiting "the beach" it was italicized.  Interesting term, "the beach".  It could have meant that they visited a place that has a beach volleyball court out back of a bar or restaurant that is set up for play by patrons, along with the axe throwing stalls.
Here in landlocked America, there are many such places of play that are not even close to water.  So, they may have laid a clever trap to make us believe a place in "cowboy country" is actually "the beach".
Annndd......Denver International is a hub for dispersing flights to Montana. Huh?  Annndd...cheapest flights from DIA are to Bozeman and Missoula. Shocked
Bozeman's out as an earlier guess that was not confirmed as true.

Verrrrrry interrresting (a la Arte Johnson's German soldier, Laugh-In).

Whatd'ya think there, sir? Undecided

I dunno. I still got Bozeman, Montana.

Seems like someone departing Phoenix and someone departing KC to meet in Denver for a connecting flight would be headed NW from Denver.

Not too many places you can take a connecting commercial flight to that is within 500 miles NW of Denver.

Looks like a nice place too.

But maybe Big Sky Mt.

The use of quotation marks when referring to "the beach" was indeed intentional.

Possibly the last clue.  Getting close to final contract signage, so it's a pretty good clue.

We have been to this site in the past.  They enjoyed having us there so much that they actually courted us to come back.

Billings Hotel and Convention Center F.K.A. Red Lion Hotel has a wonderful "court" yard.

Seems to me Frisco (2009) would be too far back in time for them to be courting the VRCC.

Ok, ok.... contract is signed.  It is in fact Billings, MT!!  smitten

Of course Serk guessed first from the Axe throwing pic (in a PM).
His cohort Disco was hot on his heels (in a text).
It was first mentioned the board by Oss, asking if anyone had guessed Billings.
Valkorado registered the first public guess.
He was followed by John Schmidt, Ken aka Oil Burner.
97BLKVALK and RNFWP kind of put the nail axe in the coffin.
