Where's The 'Q'...?

Nope, I have no actual ‘GPS’, nor most other fancy electronic gadgets for that matter. I’m a simple ‘old school’ kind of guy, and I suppose I am pretty much stuck in my ways… Part of that stems from my fear of ever becoming caught-up and bogged down with the ‘tools’ of modernity and their complexity to the point I inadvertently diminish any of the focus on the real point of my ‘Vision Quest’…

I don't want to become so preoccupied and consumed with the latest and greatest gizmos and all their myriad utilities that the most important thoughts about life are forced to become subordinated and subconsciously pushed aside, resulting in them being largely missed… It is not about the tera-bytes of this or that, nanoseconds of speed, mammoth storage capacity, nor any other gee-whiz stuff to this student of life… It’s about seeking to understand you and me, how we get along or don’t, and why those things are the way they are…

In the end, I suppose, it’s about thinking of how we might advance our species and not just our technology. To be sure, the tools are vitally important for leverage, and they do aid us in every way in everyday life. My point is that we should keep things in proper order… The tools should serve us and help us reach our goals, not the other way around by becoming the goals themselves. To keep our eyes upon the doughnut and not upon the hole, so to speak. OK, and my own limited technical ability sort of intimidates me, too… That said…

We departed our motel that second day headed for Montgomery… probably. The forecast had steadily improved each morning over the latest one the evening before! Had the weather gurus simply become purveyors of drama prone to overstating and/or exaggerating what might be after all, or are atmospheric conditions really that unstable, unpredictable, and ever changing…?

Most likely some of all of that… Whatever the reason, though, we found ourselves in the enviable position of having many just recently unforeseen opportunities suddenly become available… and that’s a good thing! The extended forecast had likewise been improving, so the possibilities of delaying my arrival in Montgomery were also growing. My early departure from HQ was looking wiser all the time!

Aside from all the changes constantly occurring, I had figured on being able to reward this happy wanderer with a fine BBQ brunch or meal of some sort during the day. Alas, we cruised into Daleville, but Larry’s BBQ was closed for Labor Day. Dang, that is one of my favorites, too. Oh well, maybe the ‘Q’ place in Enterprise will be open… 'Recalculating...’

Nope! In fact, it also happens to be a Larry’s BBQ emporium, but I hadn’t recalled its name, so… false optimism. Oh well, there is always that BBQ place I like in Andalusia… we could just stop there… 'Recalculating...' What? That is another Larry’s, too!!! Apparently Larry is a very ambitious fella…

We weren’t in any hurry, and it was by then getting downright hot with humidity definitely on the rise. Shucks, I reasoned, let’s just get a room here and see what tomorrow might bring… No need to push or endure any unpleasantness I could think up…

I did dine at the nearby Huddle House, however, and breakfast anytime is always a wonderful option in my view, and one that beats delivery pizza by a rather wide margin! Scrambled eggs, biscuit ‘n gravy, patty sausage, and sweet tea… I also got a double order of bacon to-go… It wasn’t BBQ, but it wasn’t bad either…

Randy,

Yeppers, it surely does! I love it, too!!! This adventure is turning out to have many features similar to all before, but plenty of new stuff, as well. I've sure been missing it... As Thunderbolt said in another thread... "It's been a rough couple of years!' Things appear to be easing up lately, though, therefore... Our girl has been most patient, so I do need to generously reward her... muchly and soon!!! Think I'll get right on that!
