I've been busy this summer painting and mounting rails for the solar panels on my skoolie conversion so I haven't been working on bikes. I figured I'd post a short update on the RustyValkry.
I've put several thousand miles on bike since I got it, almost a thousand just getting it home from Daytona Beach.
Though I haven't been working on it I have been riding the RustyValkry regularly. I've frequently ridden it the 70 mile round trip to the farm where the bus sits. I usually ride out I-80 (western New Jersey) and ride the back roads home. I alternate between the Valk and the Road King. This winter when I have more time I intend to do my comparison between the two. It'll be a good comparison because I have no prejudices and I've been riding them on exactly the same route.
The RustyValkry is a little stinker, just like my 883 Sportster, the RustyValkry whispers to me on the interstate . . . "faster, faster" . . . while the Road King whispers . . . "don't worry - be happy!!!" I've caught myself cruising at 95 on the Valkry which is insane!.
The RustyValkry runs pretty well at speed but I still have issues in the low throttle setting area. I put the digisync on it and got that set pretty well but I haven't gotten the tool to set the mixture screws and I KNOW there's an issue there. I also wonder if I'm going to have to have a hard look at the needle placement. My bike has the Cobra Dynajet kit in it and I'm wondering if the C-clip needs to be moved when the stock exhaust is on the bike. If anyone has an opinion I'd like to hear it. I'd go ahead and put the TBR 6 into 6 pipes on it but until I have time to replace the broken exhaust stud that won't happen.
At some point I need to find a sissy bar that will fit the mounts on the bike, looks like 15mm square bar. I also need to find a nice, big seat bag for the bike so I can get the bike into grocery getter mode. At this point when I grocery shop I have to take the Road King. The RustyValkry needs to start pulling its weight around here.

Speaking of groceries I need to get out for some so it's time to roll out the Road King.
Oh, BTW, the Shinko tires are working fine so far. I haven't had them in the wet yet but it's been on the interstates and back roads enough that I can say they're OK. I never push it in the twisties so ultimate traction is NOT an issue for me.
