When I turned 75 my Medjet "Travel Security" insurance membership stopped (it was a three year plan as I remember).

I never had to use it.  I purchased it for my wife and I since we were taking longer trips on two wheels and wanted the added security.

Anyway, now that it has expired and I turned 75, the cost as gone up somewhat (well a lot).  Its now about $500 a year or $900 for the two or us plus some doctors stuff.

The question is, does anyone have something similar they would recommend?

In general Medjet is a medical transport membership program arranging worldwide medical transport and emergency consultation services. Members are provided with access to medically dedicated aircraft and commercial medical escorts capable of transporting them from domestic and international hospitals to the hospital of their choice in their Home Country during the term of their membership. In addition, Medjet provides Members with access to medical professionals for consultations and other Member services.

I've seen ads for this one:

https://www.airmedcarenetwork.com/

Not sure how it compares in cost.

Seems like a slightly different thing, but when my rural uncle had emergent medical issues and was helicopter lifted to a major hospital in Dallas, after my aunt got the huge bill for the flight she bought a membership to the helicopter ambulance service that air lifted him.

Fast forward a few years and when my cousin (My aunt's son) had his fatal ATV accident he also was helicopter airlifted to a major hospital in Dallas.

...but it was a different company's helicopter that showed up that night, so her membership to the other company's service did no good and his estate still got a $30,000 bill for that flight.

If it's a planned move I can see it being a good thing, but in an emergency situation, they're gonna send whomever can get there the quickest, not the one you've paid for...

I think Carolina is looking for insurance that can fly him home in case a bad event happens and he is unable to ride it or drive a rental to get home with it. Not quite the same thing an air (helicopter) ambulance service.

You mean our regular car insurance doesn't cover helicopter rides?   Grin

Except for a windshield 15 years ago, I have never made any bike claim, and only a stolen van claim in 1973.  I've had things fixed by the other at-fault gal's insurance several times, but only two claims to my own company in a lifetime.  And the pricks only gave me $600 for my van.    tickedoff

What scooperhead is correct but what Serk said is also something I need to consider.  I sort of thought it was covered in the Medjet thing but..... maybe have been in error.

I will do one thing, check with my current insurance (which is Medicare backed with some other stuff) and see what the coverage would be like.

I will also check out the one mentioned by 3fan4life.  The issue with Medjet is age, which drives the cost up greatly.
