Will be going up to the Richmond, VA area in the near future.  I have been told that there are no "good" BBQ places in that area.  Just wondering if anyone is knows of a good BBQ place in the Richmond, VA area or are the other people right?

I’m kinda partial to good BBQ and have been ruined living in the Carolinas and now close to Memphis at first blush I was gonna say doesn’t exist in VA but this may give you some ideas…

My favorite is the BBQ Exchange in Gordonsville, VA.  Intersection of RT 15 and RT33 from RIchmond.  It's up about 65 miles west on RT33.  RT33 to and thru WV is a great road to ride

Thanks,   I did look and will look at the link again and pass that on to my daughter.

Edit:  Modified because I put my response inside the quotes...  Fixed that.

Thanks.  We will be taking RT33 from Elkins to Richmond.  Found that route by accident maybe 10 or so years ago.  I forget where we were going, maybe we were headed to Maine.   Well I had not been up there on the bike and some of these sweeping turns were great.  Also there was Seneca Rocks.

Will try and stop by the BBQ Exchange.  Maybe do a taste and maybe put some on the cooler.

I like I have some video from that trip..  Will look and see.

If you don't mind a chain - Famous Dave's isn't too bad. But we all know the small Mom & Pop BBQ joints usually have the best.

Don't mind a chain.  We will be traveling to visit my daughter at her new house near Richmond, coming from a trip we planned to WV.

She mentioned BBQ in a text to my wife, so I was looking to see what might be available on route.

And, like I said, I don't mind a chain.  Its rare that I have found BBQ that I did not enjoy eating.  Just a matter of how much I enjoyed eating it.  Cheesy

If your travels get you anywhere near this place:

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Paulies-Pig-Out/159899790704364
(The address on the FB page link is wrong.

The correct address is:

Paulie's Pig Out, 7376 Rockfish Valley Hwy (state route 151), Afton, VA 22920)

Stop in!

It is the best BBQ that I have found in VA so far!

I stumbled across a YouTube review of the place:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TDu7pc8mTQ

Their potato salad is great!

I've been known to ride up there just for some of it.

Thanks.  Not on this coming trip but....

We have been to or near Staunton, VA in the past.  Will put it on my list of "places".

Thanks again.

Ok,, we stopped by the BBQ Exchange in Gordonsville, VA  today (about 3:30 PM).   The place was very crowed but....  got our order, put it in the trailer and headed to my daughters/son-in-laws house in Chester, VA.

Had the BBQ for dinner and every one was pleased.  So.. It was a good choice and a good suggestion.

Thanks....
