So this is likely a dumb question. I just acquired a digi sync and was wondering do I need to T the vac line on carbs 3 and 4 to the meter? Or do I just let the vac lines sit there when I hook up the meter then replace after tuning? Do t need to worry about the petcock, I went with a pingle without vac flow.
Thanks

You should be able to just let the vac lines sit there and then replace after syncing.  If you have a Pingle, you won't need to worry about the petcock.

I would check to make sure there’s no vacuum leak on the other two lines. They can crack and leak. Usually (if they do) simple fix or just desmog.

All lines have been replaced. I can't visualize any leaks. The power is much better, but still bogs down a bit in 3rd through 5th at around 4000 rpm. I need to get some starter fluid to do a double check. Wonder if I may need to start assessing the air fuel mix. It rides just fine then suddenly no power no matter how far I turn the throttle. Also I occasionally smell fuel. Was happy it is better but really irritated I'm still having issues. Gonna run out of ride time here in Utah soon. Need to get it finished so I can rip into the VTX I have. Lol

Check to make sure the tank vent is clear. Could be creating a vacuum in the tank and slowing (or stopping) flow. As far as mixture screws, I start at 2 1/2 turns out and usually good there. Different altitudes will change that a little.

When I vacuum sync my carbs, I always either plug the open vac line going to 3-4 or reconnect it to one of the unused nipples in the case of the one that activates the petcock (#6 cyl).  It takes a little shuffling around of lines, but how can you get anything consistent with open vacuum lines hanging there?
And you might want to check out this thread, about synching the carbs:

Rug burn I have actually read your post on temp checking for the AF mix. Very informative and was actually discussing doing that next with my wife. Thanks for that write up. So I have an after market peacock and plugged the vac line off 6. When you say extra nipple where are you talking. I have all 6 connected to the digi sync? I could just use a bolt or something to plug the line off carb 3 and 4. I'll give that a try. Jim's the tank vent is open. I believe I am at about that 2.5 turns out.

I’ve never used a digi sync, so I do mine with a vacuum gauge.  Okay, you’re probably right- maybe all the hose shuffling is unnecessary.  I’d still plug any open lines on mine, but mine has all the Calif. smog equipment installed and working.
