I can't believe this plug has 100K miles.....changed them out of guilt and the damn bike didn't even appreciate it (meaning no change in idle quality or performance)...  . I have never seen any thing so easy on plugs!  |

I am surprised that the electrodes don't show more wear. The mixture on that one looks good. Are they all alike?...JTL  |

Sparkler replacement today has become highly overrated.. I think Honda recommends replacement at 8K miles,, thats nutz.. Heck, give those plugs a whack[technical term] to close up the gap and it looks like they'll go another 100K...

what u need to check also is the condition of the resistor in the plug. An Ohm reading of a new plug verses a used plug is what needs to be known. Resistors can start having high resisitance meaning a bad plug even though the electrodes look good. And yes different plug brands have different resistance when new. |

I’m not shocked.
Changed my plugs that had 55k on them, looked just as good as the new ones. Felt guilty on throwing ‘em out! (waste not, want not you know!)
I bought some high performance platinum plugs for $8 each, thinking the fat girl needed ‘em. Didn’t notice any difference! I’ll probably never do that again!

I did the same thing but with iridium plugs. I got the same results.

I bought the iridium plugs also. It seems to start a lot better, but I wouldn't give the new plugs much of the credit since I did a lot of other stuff at the same time...JTL

All 6 of the plugs look like the one in the picture color wise and the gaps were .034-.035 on all six. Like I said, it was guilt that made me change them. I am kinda getting ready for a trip to AK in July, am ordering a final drive from Pinwall cause I let my splines get away from me on a trip to Deals Gap and ground up about 40% of the splines width. It s gonna be cool to drive up north of Fairbanks and take a picture at the arctic circle.....must be a sign there like in the Rockies with the continental divide.

I change my plugs on my Valks. & Wings ever 100k just for fun of looking at them and the ones that come out look as good as the ones going in.

I agree with all your finds, that plugs last longer than the specified interval. But I do hope you all are checking the gaps, and sharpening them up with a file at the specified interval?
I've done the same with my cars. Take them out, and give them a quick file, gape and then re-install. I haven't had to do my bikes yet, but my ACE Tourer, which I've put 10K Km on last year (7K miles), and found my starting problems was a low battery, not the plugs.
