I am trying to install my air cleaner housing and having a terrible time hooking the air cleaner tubes back on the carbs. Cannot get them lined up properly so they fill fit over the carbs correctly. Can anyone give me some advice on this?
Does anyone have pictures of the installation of the Marc fuel valve?
Thanks.

MarkT and a couple others did a good writeup on this. Search the forum for "Dan-Marc".

Just got home from the Octoberfest in Amana, Ia. and was hoping for a lot of replies to my airbox question but alas, nary a one except for John.
If you have had your airbox off, did you have any difficulties installing the rubber tubes on the carbs? I am having a hard time getting them on and would certainly appreciate any help or suggestions.
Thanks
Mike

I had a terrible time with mine also but what I did was put a ratchet strap over the air cleaner and hooked it on my table that the bike was on and put a 2x4 on top of the box strapped it down and wiggled the tubes in place then tighten the hose clamps, I did this on a few other bikes and works great, hope I said this so you can understand.

I use a pry bar set from HF - so useful I bought a second set of them. Use them for lots of things where leverage is needed. They have a clearance sale on them right now for $10. Pry the air box down while feeding the tubes onto the carb inlets. https://www.harborfreight.com/4-piece-heavy-duty-pry-bar-set-1654.html I have installed lots of wires for mods, that pass from under the seat along the frame to the fork area. I installed extra unassigned wires for future mods to minimize pulling the tank / airbox. A list of my mods to Jade is http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,107621.msg1078206.html#msg1078206Here's a shot of my 1/4" orifice solenoid bought from Dan-Marc. Get this bigger 79-AFC1211412, some including me have had fuel starving with the smaller one. Also pick up appropriate brass nipple, brass barb fittings and the brass IPT T fitting so you can put the solenoid right next to the T. This enables having a longer length of flexible hose to ease connecting to the petcock. Make sure the tube is level or downhill, no loops or dips - they cause an air bubble to block fuel flow. I removed the fuel filter in this pic as it was causing starvation as well. The system is sensitive to flow with only gravity moving the fuel.

Octoberfest in Amana I used to drive to Amana and West Amana several times a year to make furniture deliveries to my customers. Always made sure to time a delivery on Octoberfest, good times.

One reason for lack of response could be that the issues you bring up have been discussed on this forum almost as much as what oil is best to use.
Remember, search is your friend, if you were to search the archives of the board for air cleaner, dan marc, intake tubes, etc, you will get enough reading to put you to sleep, then wake up and read the next day until you fall asleep again. Good luck, Jim

Thanks to Avanti, Quad, and John for your help.
Jim, I always do a search before I ask a question and not only on this site. If you have a viable link about this subject you could forward to me, it would be appreciated. Thanks for your suggestion.

Mike, I have found the biggest hindrance to the airbox falling into place is the wiring harnesses, radiator overflow tube, and everything else running along the the neck and frame. If you undo all the retainers holding this stuff in pace and pull and maneuver everything out of the way, the airbox will have the clearance to go into place EASILY. I use a dental mirror, flashlight and dental tools (not sharp pointed ones) to insure the back of the air tubes are correctly placed before clamping.
If you feel the need to pry or force the airbox into place, something is still in the way, and forcing it will only cause stress, damage and improperly seated air tubes which will suck dirty air.

Whatever. Works for me, apply some pressure while moving things out of the way. Never damaged my parts so it takes reasonable care while PRYING it.

MarkT,
I already had unfastened the main bundle so I will look again for all the items you suggested. Something has to be preventing it from going on. Shouldn't be this hard.
Pancho,
I thought I knew about every place in Ark. but I have never heard of your town. My mom was born in Bottleneck which is close to Shirttail Ridge, which is close to Watkins Corner about 10 Miles from Marvell which is just down the road from Helena. Me, I was born in Ft. Smith.
Thanks to all of you for your suggestions. I apologize if I missed somebody but all suggestions are helpful and have merit.

Hey Mike, born in Ft Smith? Bonanza is about 4 miles South of Ft Smith.. Ended up here from Los Angeles on the throw of a dart into a map. Nice quiet place. I sometimes think I miss the rush of a big city?? I like to visit around your moms neck of the woods,, the people seem at peace around there.
The airbox will fall right into place when everything is out of the way.

Pancho,
I used to go down to the cotton farm every summer and work my little butt off either picking, chopping, or riding the tractor while my Uncle plowed. This was in the late 40's and I sure do miss those times. Like you say, peaceful.
Still haven't got that air box on. Worked on it today. I must not be holding my mouth just right.

Try to move everything in the neck of the frame out of the way Mike, it's a job in itself to clear the area, but it will go in when there is proper clearance.

likely late to the party but you can turn the rubbers so that they don't stick out so far from the sides and then they position back into position and index there when you get it close. I put the clamps onto the adaptor on top of the carbs then get the airbox down and close, then use a set of long seal picks to get the hoses onto the carbs. You may need to make a few trips side to side to get it down and into place.

I'm late but I don't think anyone gets the air box on without a fair bit of anger.
One thing I would say is run your finger around each tube to make sure it is seated all the way and does have a kink in the back where you can't see. That happened to me and I used a pick to get everything seated in there right. I pushed on the top of the air box and it felt like it wasn't all level, after checking everything two of the pipes hadn't gone down all the way.
The whole thing was a PIA.
