I would like some feedback from riders with the large std/tourer seat that have had the Russell Day Long fit and rebuild done. Much difference? Worth the money? Leather or vinyl? Would you do it again? I'm thinking of riding there to be fitted. Any recommendations?

I'm only interested in hearing from riders that have gone from the large 2000? and newer OEM seat to the Russell.

TIA

Got the Russell on both a 97 std, which I bought with a Ultimate Low Rider on it, and on a 2001 IS, that I had the std. saddle redone to a Russell, in leather.  Both of them.  I had Russell put heat in the IS one too.  They are fantastic, fit my you know what perfect.

I sent my 2003 OEM seat (rider, pillion and sissy bar pad)  to Russell Day-Long for a rebuild in leather.  I did have some extra "custom" work done on it as well, that had nothing to do with comfort, just appearance.  The price of it was justifiable to me, since having a seat that's too uncomforable to sit on for a ride, makes the bike pretty much useless.  I haven't had the chance to put mega-miles on it yet, but the rides I've done since getting it have been pleasant.  I got this to replace the one made in Canada for Big Boys ( not to start anything here   Roll Eyes  ) that started hurting after about 3 hours of riding.  I live too far to ride out for a custom fit, but these folks ( especially Heather) made this one of my best online purchase experiences to date.  If your going to spend the $$$$ for a Day-Long, then the extra $ for leather is peanuts.   Hope this helps a little.  Lady Draco graciously offered me her opinion on the Day-Long saddles she and Highbinder have, and mine lives up to her praises.   cooldude
