Roxie and I spent a very long day in Muncie, IN. My elder son, Matthew, completed his FIRST IRONMAN TRIATHLON at the age of 50 yrs, 8 months, 17 days!!!!!  His time was 14:17:33. For those unfamiliar with this event, It comprises a 2.4 mile swim; a 112 mile Bicycle Race, and a full (26.2 mile) Marathon. We are Both very proud of him.

That is quite an achievement, congratulations to your son. Is he going to try to repeat it or was it a bucket list scratch off.

Thanks for all the replies and kudos. I am very proud of him. I could do it in about 3 months. I would take at least a month to do the swim, about a 10th of a mile a day. The bike ride would take about a month, 5 miles at a time, and I would walk the whole marathon about 2.5 miles each day, 6 days a week. Eddie, at this point we are not sure if there will be another one. I think he would like to try again.
