I was told that as of now there are no rooms available, but they are sending notices to the race fans that have not committed that they need to release the rooms so we can get them. Just thought I would pass this on to anyone who is still trying to get a room.

Joe they are still confused about that. When I called I was told there were no rooms because it was race weekend. When I asked her to checked that for me she came back and said she was mistaken about it being race week but there were still no rooms available.

When we were up there last year for Cheaha, we made reservations and were told that our dates were the same as race weekend although we were able to get the chalet we usually have. Everything else was pretty much booked and for folkes to try back later. Unless the race people that reserved them release the rooms they have to hold them for them. They have up till a couple days before the date to hold the room without a penalty. So good luck. I reserved everything they had for Sep 11-13 last year for the Southern National Congress and they were horrible to deal with. Communication was lacking. Seems to be the same for Cheaha.

Update. Just got off the phone with reservations. They mailed out a lot of notices yesterday and more today to the race people asking them to release the rooms. NASCAR didn't release the race schedule for Taladaga until the Monday after last years race so their fans reserved rooms for two weekends. The young lady I talked to said to keep calling back and they will keep a waiting list but the best thing to do is keep calling.

She wouldn't even put me on the waiting list. Said I should just keep calling back.   Roll Eyes

and....i had this ongoing discussion with them.....making our formal plan/arrangement...and while they kept trying to insist OUR weekend would/might be race weekend, i went to the supervisor and said GIVE ME THE WEEKEND OF 30 APril - 2 MAY anyway....cause you guys don't have a clue.

AND THEY GAVE ME THE ROOMS....THE CABINS....THE CHALETS....every single one....blocked for us. That's what they said, anyway. but the confusion has continued to this day.

all i know is, they tell me......the Event Coordinator....that we blocked em' ALL...........supposedly.

bottom line, confusion rains....keep checking back. TAKE THE CABINS AND CHALETS. there are ALWAYS CABINS LEFT OPEN...right up to the end. and the cabins are SWEET!  Go on the waiting list. Keep plugging. and next year, don't wait....and don't take no for an answer. i bet if you call them two months from now....some of the staff at the hotel.....will say.....FALSELY TELL YOU...that 30 April is Talladega weekend. The rumor dies hard  2funny  uglystupid2

Going on the waiting list and not taking no for an answer didn't do me any good as far as getting a room was concerned....point blank they told me there were none to reserve...period.  For me, the waiting list was a waste of time....I got a room only by constantly calling back every couple of days until I got "lucky"!

i say again....i'd get on the waiting list....and YES, i'd keep calling back too. that's what i mean by not taking "no" for an answer. Be persistent....in the end, we always seem to get MOST folks up top....sharing rooms, the lodge, hotel, cabins, chalets....camping....etc. It always seems to work out...but....it's always "standing room only"...........

That's one of the limitations about having a party on top of a darn mountain....there's only so much space in the inn  Cool  Wink

Cheaha has ONE SWEET LODGE to party in.

Alas, there's not enough days of vacation to be had in any given year (not to mention funding to go around).  Shala and I sure enjoyed the Cheaha trip last year, but this year Sturgis is calling.

That sure won't stop me from reading every Cheaha related post and viewing all the fine pics posted afterwards though.

I'm already looking forward to seeing the posts.
