After coming to the realization that I needed the old XR500R like I need a Grizzly Bear chasing me through the woods. It was fun making it run and ride like new again after sitting for almost 35 years. A collector took it off my hands this morning. Who needs a dirt bike with two Valkyries.

More room and time for the real machines.

I had magazine pics of bikes like that all over my room when I was a kid.... Very nice!

And if you get that off road hankering again, there are always options!

I had an XR250R when. Was a young man. I had so much fun on that bike. Crashed many times but wearing full body armour, walk away from all high speed wrecks. A 2 mile an hour wreck led to a separated AC and a shoulder surgery. It was time to sell it.

those older hondas and other good dirt bikes in that upper cc class go for tons of money have seen some go for say 5 grand or so (newer ones but used bigger cc engines)  which to me is insance pricing on any dirt bike.

takes me back to my 1st dirt bike I think an old suzuki from 1960's 100cc VERY HEAVY piece of junk that ran but blew smoke all over, holes all over exhaust, and top speed 40 mph or so maybe 45??  spent like 150 bucks on it sold for 100 when in end of teens years  just having say 5 years or so.  Had to push it 1 mile into the country for fear of cop stopping me in our small town, which that sucked.

I've been riding this more than my Valkyrie recently:

I purchased that one and this one so my son and I have something to do together.  It took a lot of work to get them both running reliably:

I'm finding that although my street riding experience is serving me well, there are times when the trails truly kick my posterior.  It's a lot of work to ride a dirt bike on a rooty or rocky trail up a steep hill!

That's the same kid as this one:

Working a trail or a motocross track or just smellin the roses on a dirt bike you spend more time squatting/standing on the pegs then you do sittin on the seat. Your slightly bent at the knee legs become another set of shock absorbers. RIDE SAFE.

Serk, I'm in for this if you are...............

Should be one heck of a good time, right up to the point that puppy catches traction while climbing up a steep hill and comes over on top of one of us.  Wink   Happened several times to me back when I rode a KZ Big Horn 350cc.
