Lotsa saddle time to average 1020 a day! 12 hrs of riding you Must Average 85 M P H ALL DAY. Even 15 hrs a day Is 68 M P H Average. NOT REPEAT NOT dissin the feat BUT that some SERIOUS azzed ridin. RIDE SAFE.

Wow, and he did it on a Harley!  And what'd he get for a reward at the end of this incredible feat? Tracked him down on Facebook, just 5 hours ago he posted: Ok, not really a post I wanted to make. Looks like I caught the dreaded Rona....
So I definitely won’t be making any party this weekend. Apologize for any inconvenience, just not something I could control.
The rally will go on as planned, I just won’t be able to make it. |

Going through his Facebook page, he gave an update on August 26 of this year that says "30k miles, day 30" so looks like it was consecutive... |

Even at 40 M P G he burned 2550 Gallons and figuring an average of $3.40 gal that be $8670.00 amd not even figurin chow time motels and how Many tires were needed? Still Way KEWL none the less!  RIDE SAFE. |

This is probly gonna make some of you mad but I have a real hard time believing this. I have done two of the Iron Butt rides and it is grueling. I just got on the Iron Butt Association website and in many years the highest mileage anyone has ridden in 362 days is 112,000+ miles. Yes the IBA has a section of riders who have done 30,000 miles in 30 days but to do 1,020 miles per day for 100 days is just hard to believe. 102,000 miles would require at least 8 tire changes and at 5,000 miles per oil change there would be 20 oil and filter changes not counting other maintenance such as wheel bearings, spark plug changes, etc.
If he really did this manoman he is definitly at the top of my list as a bad ass rider.

He would have had to have multiple bikes. I dont know of any kind of bike…especially Harley….that could go 102,000 miles with out a breakdown of some kind…… except maybe a Valkyrie. Im assuming his bike wasnt brand new so it would have 102,000 miles plus whatever was on the odometer already.

Looking through his Facebook page, if he faked it, he put a LOT of work into faking it.... Almost as much work as actually doing the ride would have taken... ...and he refers to his spousal unit as his spousal unit... I like him!!! It seems harder than possible to me too Digger.
I'd have to have about 40lbs of Dexedrine (speed) to do it. And a couple of spare asses. And lose 20-25 years of age.
It's the kind of thing that could put you off riding for good.
If true, it's also hard to imagine all those miles without a single mishap (like falling asleep).

It's beyond my threshold of belief as well. On distance riding one is doing so well to average sixty miles per hour. Averaging over seventy for 100 sequential days is very hard to believe. Average means one has to make up for fuel stops, food stops, and any roads off the flyway.
I may be missing something in the story but I've not enough interest to pursue it further.

Serious question: how the HD engine didn't grenade? The twin cam is famous for having serious design issues ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSmp_mw_ZbM) and generally will have issues past >30K miles.  And how did he manage to swap tires (I imagine each 8K-10K miles) while keeping the average of +1K miles/day? |

I hear you guys and I felt the same way at first as did many others but after a lot of digging, everyone agrees it's legit. The bike was brand new and has the M8 engine. It was serviced at HD dealerships along the way. He had a satellite tracker on the bike that kept followers updated as to speed, location, etc. All fuel stops are backed up with receipts denoting time, date and mileage. He's a seasoned distance rider. It all adds up to being true. The more I looked at it the more I couldn't see any holes in his story.

Wish I had the resources to attempt this! I think it could be done, and have no doubt he did it. The logistics of the oil and tire changes is something I'd like to understand. If I were setting it up, I'd have pre-defined stops and folks that could attack that while I slept. Which would drive me bonkers as I've never, not once in my life, had ANY service on a bike done by others and not had *something* messed up LOL. Just to complicate things I'd start out on the 22 year old, quarter-million mile Valkyrie though  |

I wouldnt think you could ride anywhere in the United States a thousand miles a day without running into major accident traffic tie ups…..rush hr creeping traffic…..ROAD CONSTRUCTION STOPPAGES…..that would blow your mileage average for the day.

Well…. Starting to look like Im gonna have to eat a little crow……102,000 miles in 100 days just didnt sound feasible. I have researched this a little further and it seems a couple long distance riding clubs are saying its legit. I have plenty of people on different sites still saying “ bullpoop”. One of the guys from one of those clubs says he mostly took his route to pass thru Texas and get service at his home dealership. Said he got service and tires every 10,000 miles or so. I guess anything is possible. Sounds like a well planned adventure that clicked like clock work.

Lets add a couple degrees of difficulty to this No later than Sept 2022. Do the IDENTICAL Ride on an electric M/C to at the very least study the feasability of gittin the tricity "out there"! Include some sparse areas out west. Charging the batteries ONLY NO/NONE/NADA R&R of batteries unless PROVEN Totally completely trashed beyond redemption. And Record EVERYTHING! Just an attempt to keep the tree huggin green new dealers and others mollified-sorta.  RIDE SAFE. |

I was curious, if he got 40mpg, he burned through 2,500 gallons of fuel, so probably spent a little over $7K to get that $5K check sent to his charity of choice. Not throwing shade, but I'm always intrigued when things turn out like that.

When you figure in the number of tire and oil changes that would need to be done in 100,000 miles it does make this feat seem unaccomplishable.
I wonder if he had people to do those things at night while he slept?
