Quite simply, will Evaporust damage the fuel filler cap in any way if I invert the tank?

It's easy to remove the cap and garnish.

A couple of screws will do it.

Use a rubber drain plug of the appropriate size to plug the filler opening and you can invert away.

Sorry, BJ, I don't quite understand.  I know how to remove the existing cap but are you saying the Evaporust will damage the existing cap?
I'm asking as I don't presently have any alternative bungs.

The stock cap is sealed and NOT vented.

But I want it sealed otherwise the Evaporust will leak.
Am I being a bit thick here or what? I'm querying whether Evaporust will damage the filler cap with some form of chemical reaction if I invert the tank.

I've not tested it that way, but I see nothing in Evaporust that would cause any degradation of any component in the gas cap. I've done that same inversion with gas in it with no leaks as long as the rear of the tank is higher than the fuel level since there's no way to stop liquid from running out the vent tube inside the tank. You could put some kind of plugged hose over the vent nipple to prevent that.

I put some cork or synthetic plugs on my gas cap. I bought them to plug my 5 gallon plastic water tanks when camping. The kind of water tanks that they have in the office water coolers. Worked great. Secure and no leaks. I could send you one if you would like. Message me your mailing info.

Cancel my offer. Just noticed your location. I’m not up to speed with mailing stuff to the UK. I believe you can get them from wine or beer brewing supply houses.

That's brilliant,  Valker. Thank you for your help.
