A winding drive on Interstate 40 through the Pigeon River Gorge will soon take a little longer than normal.
A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will close one lane in each direction approaching Exit 7 starting Saturday with construction continuing into May.

Well, at least it's not being done during the heavy traffic months.   No doubt will cause traffic issues.

If it’s completion is set for May 2024 that’s going to cover just about every driving season there can be.

I didn't see 2024 at the end of the article.
