Good grief...his luggage has to weigh more than the bike. Kudos to him for the adventures to come.  cooldude

took a honda scrambler 90cc from Houston to Eagle Pass Texas with another guy on the back to work on an oil rig in 1971 that thing purred the whole time no trouble at all.  Eagle Pass is right on the Mexican border even back then you just might just as well called it Mexico not much difference really.

wow, that 90cc surely was struggling am sure even with a normal sized 180lb. person on board with all that extra cargo on back and more so skinny small tires.  I have a 249cc single cylinder scooter and has a maximum capacity load of 350lbs.  Me being 290ish range and with 30-40 lbs. of groceries on back seat luggage strapped down,  oversized one helmet hard carrier on back, and underseat storage able to hold 2-3 full bags of groceries,  I am pushing that 350lbs. am sure.    Not struggling at all, but NO way would I fit a 150lb. person on back seat simply because that person would have to be pretty skinny like 110lbs. to fit with my keester in front and rear suspension would be struggling, not the nice sized 16 inch tires sames size as a honda 250cc rebel tires.    With 100lbs. or more on backseat area, I think my scooter would handle poorly as well even though still would do 65 mph on level pavement am sure top speed single one up is 78 mph floored which is really screaming on that thing passing Harley Davidsons putzing along doing 55 mph or so.

I get the strangest looks from the few times people on Interstates me doing 70 mph or so usually in the slow lane but they cannot believe looking over at me that I am going that fast on such a small machine looks like a 150cc scooter.  I prefer not to go over much 70 mph for that last 8 mph or so really makes that single cylinder engine buzzzzz... maxing it out and probably not good for it long term.

One for the aimless wanderers travelling along the Great American Roadside.  The older well seasoned version of DDT comes to mind.   Wink
