I use a lot of epoxy resin in my furniture repair. So for Marlin rifles with the bullseye it’s not uncommon that they are lost and need replacement. So I figured out a way to make them.

If anyone here has a Marlin missing its bullseye. I’ll send you one for the shipping.

First I had to get white and black pigment for the resin. Then mix up some white and draw it into a syringe.

Once hardened. Just cut the tip off the syringe and push the blank out.

The hardest part is getting a hole drilled right through the center.

Then fill with black resin and cut and size for installation.

This is how much bullseyes stock I have. Enough for 6-8 inserts.

Sorry, but where does that go on the rifle??

A bulls-eye is on a target.

That looks like a spot to mount a sling swivel, no?

My 1896 is in the back of my safe and too much work to get to.

I never wanted a sling on mine either.

Sadly people do think that’s the spot for a sling swivel. It’s not, the sling mounts a couple inches aft of the bullseye. The Bullseye is a trademark identification marker so a Marlin can be spotted next to other brands.  Some Marlin owners look for replacement bullseye inserts after wrongly drilling through theirs for a swivel. If the drilling was clean a repair can be perfect.
