NEWS FLASH! Road Trip In The Works…
Who am I kidding… my entire life is a continuous road trip! This is a special one, though, so I thought I ought to mention it here in case anybody else wants in on any or all of it… Are you reading this, SmokinJoe? It all started with a text I just received… It was from Slacker (Jim Babcock), and he wanted to chat.
I called, and it turns out he is ready to arrange a prisoner exchange with our socks… Heck, I was flabbergasted! I’d assumed he’d be holding on to those treasures to enjoy them himself for a while, then possibly wanting some sort of ransom or something. Nope, at least he didn’t mention any surprise demands or small print sorts of possibilities, so I agreed to meet on not-so-neutral ground… CF Penn Hamburgers in Decatur, AL, this coming Saturday (12/4/21) around 1ish pm. Road trip possibilities to be discussed during the dining event…
Holy Cow! I’d been pinning for some more of those delightful morsels, and I was intending to swing through there on my way to… somewhere… in the next week or two. This has truly energized the ol’ bug killer, however, as you might well imagine, so I’m more than ready and rarin’ to head up yonder! I don’t harbor any thoughts at present of having my name added to the ‘Honor Roll’ list on the wall there… but who knows?!
Only thing is, I now have a date, location, and time… Sort of knocks some of the edge off the spontaneity aspect I do so cherish, but what the hey. I’ll be meeting up with friends, and who knows what might come from that?! The sky is the limit! Well, that and a couple of oceans plus winter further north… Anybody want to join us? You could even be official witnesses to the solemn garment exchange…
Suzanne, Slacker’s spouse, will be attending with him. She’s learned already about allowing her mate to wander off with this intrepid trekker, so she will be there, I’m certain, to ensure he actually returns home. She has now joined the pantheon of wives who get all nervous and such anytime their hubbies mention going on a ride with… you know who.
There are no details to share regarding any potential road trip that might follow… That’s primarily because there are none at all planned at the moment. Think of it as a blank slate upon which we can write virtually anything we want! Or we could write nothing at all; instead, we could just wander in some direction, as I so often do.
I do have a couple of stops to make in Montgomery, but only the one on 12/28/21 is not changeable or miss-able… Naturally for this wanderer all of this is actually just normal, routine stuff… For those who have a more traditional lifestyle, on the other hand, it might be advisable to give this a little thought… I’m game, and I’m open, so… Come, let us reason together… over my favorite burgers… It could change your life!

P.S. I’m wondering if I should have Jim’s socks washed and folded for him, or… If maybe I should just leave them in a pre-stretched, pre-scented state… That’ll give me something to ponder on my way there during my ride from central Florida to northern Alabama... I just love road trips… don’t you?
