Greetings,

Has anyone experienced the asbestos testing process when importing a motorcycle to Australia? Customs is stating they require testing on older imported vehicles, to now include motorcycles. The testing includes clutches, head gaskets, exhaust gaskets and exhaust parts, seats, etc.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Does this require a tear down so parts can be inspected?

I can't be of any help with the process, but it sounds like a way your government can $tick it to ya.  How are they going to "check" the head and exhaust gaskets?  That doesn't sound good.

All that needs done is an affidavit from Honda or info from the US NHTSA on when they forbad asbestos in those items. I'm sure it was at least a decade before Valk production began.

Did Honda do that?   Could be, I haven't heard that.   But, asbestos was still on the "exception" list for brake pads and a few other things.
