Hey guys, been awhile since I've posted, but I still have my 2014 Valkyrie and still love it to death. 19k miles now and she just RIPS!!

Anyway, I want to get a lift for servicing motorcycles.  I have two now.  I am thinking of buying a new BMW R18...

There are scores of motorcycle lifts in the market.  I know earlier there was some discussion about the typical scissor jack having problems with the 1800 Valk.

What lifts are you using?

Thanks!

No problemo. Love it for work on the bike and trike. Good price. Free shipping. 1 week leadtime when I bought it.

Adrian, Did you ride the new R18 ?

Well I did and though I am a convinced beemer, I hated it : heavy, expensive, way too much vibrations (butt, hands), not fit for short rides nor long ones.

I'd rather buy a HD !  2funny

The lift table is nice, if you have the room for it. I wish I did. It would be nice to have.

I've always wanted one of these. Probably one of the safest and easy to store methods? You could even hang it when not in use for extra floor space. https://on-bike.com/?fbclid=IwAR0K5_wM-hZch5LN8kHcRtNu2LivPPev-V1ohq27djURzYQWOETb6u9muN8

Depends on what you want to do. I don't know of allot of required maintenance on the 1800 requiring full jacking or lift table. Simple tire changes can be gone with jack stands and any jack. You don't need much height to pull the rear off and safer down low. I want a good one also, just never wanted to spend the cash.

The cheapest and safer than jacking way to go is install a center stand for easy Maintenace. Although as we age its harder to get off the ground to work/clean our bikes. I would love to get her up in the air safely. I've been jury rigging unsafe methods for years. I've used cargo straps from the garage ceiling beams and bottle jacks, floor jack and jack stands, made wood adapters with motorcycle jacks. All have worked, all have good and bad points.  One day it's going to bite me. I'd have to do allot of tire changes to justify the expense. I will probably just go the center stand route.

The Sears aluminum jack is pretty good for 1800s, after
you figure out how to make an adapter... BUT... it takes
a LIGHT TOUCH when you lower the bike, or else the
experience is similar to throwing a sack of concrete
out of a second story window...

I have a belly pan on mine maybe it’s not the right way to do it but a lot of Goldwinger’s just use a motorcycle lift it seem to work fine.

That lift would probably work with slight mods to the arms. If you look at this pic my Valk is supported on 3 points, the 2 crash bars and the rear shock bracket. It would be easy to make similar supports and arms to go on that lift.
