southern WI

« Reply #40 on: January 17, 2022, 11:18:33 AM »

Temp is a relatively mild -7°C (20F). Got the snowblower running. My girl told me I was out there for 2 hours moving 13 inches of white stuff from our 15 car length driveway. Gotta go out and do another pass this aft.

If the roads become passable, then I'll go in town and do my folks driveway, which is also packed.

wow 15 car length driveway is near a football field long.  If that long,  I would invest in an ATV and snowplow or truckplow for my truck.  I cannot imagine doing that in only 2 hours with a 24 to 26 inch width snowblower lotsa walking back and forth to do it that way for sure.

I would not mind some snow here in southern WI only 1 inch of snow on the grass is about it only having one 3 inch and one one inch snowfall so far this year, bring some my way, but NOT too much.

I want to fire up my snowblower and hopefully it starts last started in November before winter.  Is good to use it few times per winter if get 4 inches or more snow at a time.  I have an ATV with 60 inch moose plow but see no need on using it really for only a 50x20 foot driveway.  I got used a great deal on snowplow blade 250 bucks worth 400 near new could not pass it up I guess have used it a few times once over 12 inches of snow but find it cumbersome to back up and maneuver all the time in such a short driveway I just push the snow across the road all the way clearing the road as well.

Almost all my neighbors have or access to friends with bobcats/skidloaders taking 3-4 swipes and done. One neighbor has a cool attachment to his skidloader is a huge bristle brush and man oh man those high rpms twirling that brush around stirs up a HUGE powder mess blowing it all over a sight to see for sure.

And it is going to be 20 here tonight... ENOUGH ALREADY  cooldude

I'm done with my breakfast (thank you Lord for keeping the power on)
and now I'm gonna crunch my way over to the barn to feed the horses...

-Mike

Low of 11F forecast here. SWOP?  Cheesy

No thanks... it got 12 here once and the water pipe to my bathtub froze (but
did not break)... I dutifully go into the crawlspace each winter and look to
see that the insulation still looks OK, but I get nervous at 20 or below...

-Mike

If you're that worried about , you need to invest in some heat tape.

That's a first for me.

Breaking icicles of the guttering.

Depending on width and length each one had it's one musical note as it broke away.

One was about 3 feet long with quite a deep note.

Ok, all we got was about 3" (maybe a little less).  The video from my morning "Zoe Walk".  Zoe likes the snow.

Again, Rumble (at least on my computer) defaults to 480p and you have to manually select 1080p on the lower right side of the screen.

If I let Joey off leash he's gone. He loves to run.

Had a dog like that once, eventually he got hungry and came home.  Wink

Joey goes for about 20 minutes. He's such a nice looking friendly dog I worry someone would take him.

We are on a quiet road but not too far away is the 4 lane through Maggie Valley. He's a doofus and would get run over.

am jealous if that is your stream running in your yard, very nice property along with others who own land with woods, etc.     I saw in another video a wooden fence with thick metal wire on the inside, why?  Is that your property line being the fencing?

No worries, it will melt soon enough hang in there.
