One of my riding buddies moved off to Tomball.
So, I'mlooking at the map to find a place that is about halfway between there and Victoria.

Columbus looks like it.

Plan is to meet there around noon, grab a bite and beer or two then take a couple hour ride around the area. Then peel off early enough to get back home before/by dark, or close to it.

Anybody familiar with the area around there for riding?

Points of interest?
Country bars?

There is Schobel's in Columbus...

Places that peak my interest in that area are maybe Fayetteville, Round Top and Brenham.  I'm always coming in from the Austin area, but there are some really nice roads that connect those towns.  And I would think it would be easy to plot a route from Columbus.  I haven't been to any those places since before covid, so no telling' what's still open restaurant-wise.

I live in Tomball.  I ride out there quite a bit.  Dont know how far you guys want to ride but this is my favorite ride….. from Columbus get on 109 to Frelsburg.  In Frelsburg turn left on 1291 to Fayetteville.    From 1291 in Fayetteville turn right on 159 to turn left on 1457 to Shelby to Warrenton.   In Warrenton turn right on 237 thru Round Top to hyway 290.    Turn right on 290 and take exit left into Burton.    In Burton turn left on Texas Scenic Hiway 390.  Stay on 390 Thru Gay Hill and Independence and on 390 to hyway 105.  Turn right on 105 to Brenham.       Then you can go home from there.

Beautifull riding days usually fall during the week.   Im retired and can usually ride anytime but my weekends are usually taken by family functions.   If we forsee a good riding day during the week and you guys are up for it I can give you the guided tour…ha.

Sounds good.
We know about the "w/e riding" cause we're all retired also and have families/grandkids (That's why the one buddy moved to Tomball - first Granddaughter).

Looks like we're not riding for a week or two. I heard from both of them and one's family is covided (not him yet) and the other just came back from Pennsylvania, dad's birthday, so he's got a few "honeydews" going.

Will definitely keep your offer in mind.  Hopefully we can work it out!
