Yup, common practice for allocated whiskey, like Pappy van Winkle. If you win the lottery, you get to buy a bottle as MSRP.
But a bottle with a MSRP of $69 can easily fetch $1500 on the secondary market.
I've got the hookup, a friend that's the warehouse manager for a large regional liquor distributor, and have managed to get a case or two of Pappy at or below MSRP. It's okay, not bad, but IMHO way overrated to be honest.
