I've never had any trouble out of the battery in my (2014) black bike,
never had to charge it, it always starts up right away. But it is
kind of old, and I'll probably go to InZane this summer. So I put this
battery in the black bike yesterday...

The old battery sure was heavy, it was like there was lead in it or something!

I put a few little stacker frobs they included to make the new battery as
tall as the old one.

Those gold looking connectors are removable and they have multiple
places to make connections. I have one non-oem accessory added
for my heated gear, so now it has its own connection to the battery
instead of being stacked on.

I removed the ground connector from the battery and cut a slit in it so that
the bike's ground connector would fit well. I read some reviews and saw some
people saying stuff like "I had to cut a little tab off my battery wire to fit,
no prob"... bleghhh... I liked being able to modify the battery  cooldude ...

I had to go for a test ride, naturally.

Not far from home, I notice a GIANT plume of dense black smoke in the
distance, so instead of aimless noodling, I tried to head off towards the
smoke. The roads kept on turning me in the wrong direction, but I
eventually made it to where the action was. A very small road and
a whole bunch of fire engines back up in there. I know they don't
like looky-loos so I didn't stop and the afternoon sun was right
where I needed to look when I rode by, so I couldn't really see much.

The lady who leads the singing at Church is on the fire department,
and she was there, so I got to talk to her about it this morning. She
had a story about her and another firefighter trying to control a whipping
hose that had the pressure turned up too much. The building was a barn
with lots of tractors and atvs and living quarters... and horses and dogs
and a cat  Cry ... the feller got out OK.

thanks for the amazon.com lithium battery suggestion 110 bucks is not that bad priced considering I think the yuasu's I have been buying are now pushing 85 to 90 bucks in price.  I might need one come spring charged it up again on the 1 amp over the winter and fully charged only reads 12.25 volts and right around there is very 'iffy' fully charged like to have them over 12.50 volts fully charged.  Is about 6 years old though and not used weekly so can see why it is dwindling down on power.

Might give it a shot since my ATV and 2 Valks take all the same battery so can always use it.  The 14 sizing is good priced 110 bucks but not so sure 185 bucks for the 20 sizing is such a good deal?????

Glad you found a lighter replacement.  I have Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries in the RV now. They are like a group 27 battery which was very heavy, originally had 2 of those in the 5th wheel.  The Battle Born brand batteries that I replaced them with are much lighter and they are warrantied for 10 years.  Charge voltage/profile are a little different so the converter/charger had to be changed but I put on solar panels and inverter etc. at the same time so we can now "boondock" or dry camp as long as we have some water on board.
I questioned their build quality when they first came out but they have proven to be a good upgrade.  Another big selling point on the ones I have I don't know about yours is that they can be discharged all they way to zero with no harm.  Conventional lead acid once you have done that to them are damaged forever.

This one seems to have a brain that keeps it from over charging or discharging "too much", whatever
that means... here's the porn page from the manufacturer...

https://no.co/products/lithium/powersport

It says "lithium ion"... I think the one I got in December 2014 for The Logtruck
is "lithium iron phosphate", that's what Tesla uses now in their standard-range
cars.

I don't think they make the autocraft one anymore, but I sure do like it.
I particularly like the tester button on it, I wish the Noco battery had one.

Anywho... they're supposed to last a long time. My original regular battery from the
black bike is from 2014 too, and it still works great, so ida know... I'm glad
to have a fresh battery for this summer's long rides though...

Yep BMS Battery Management System is the brains of the little box.  Another plus is that as stated in the link you don't need to worry about boiling out the water as there is none inside.  You can mount it sideways or upside down if you want.  The RV applications allow you to put them underneath your bed if you want with no worry about charging gases or leakage.  The type I have are actually made of lots of small cells in series inside the box with the BMS.  The charge controller for the solar stuff and the inverter are all made by Victron and I have an app on the phone that allows me to see and modify parameters and state of charge etc.  Cool stuff.

Ya think that nlp20 would also be the best fit for my 1500? My battery is a 2014/15 year model. Not having any issues but like the idea of a fresh one for InZane.
Their site was recommending their chargers (of course), did you get one? Would my automatic trickle charger work just as well (if needed)? I'm wired for the easy plug in but only use it a couple of times each winter while she sits a lit more than usual.

Amazon says that the NOCO Lithium NLP14 is the one for the 1500 Valkyrie...

My charger is the cheapest one from Autozone and is older than my
1500... so yes, I got the Noco charger too  cooldude ... the genius 10,
which is the same as my IQ except for the zero... I don't use
a trickle charger, all I know about them is that maybe they are
the reason Detn8er's shed burned down and also Britman's whole
house...

I plan to ride the black bike to Mississippi, we can see if the battery seems
to work well then... I emailed you a proposed route...

Schumacher charger and when the insurance company sent their own fire investigator he found the battery positive terminal. He showed me it and pointed out what looked like little arc welding hits on the part of the terminal inside the battery. Told me it could have caught fire at any time when power was running through it.

Electricity is the work of the devil.

That's why I have a couple of LED brake light strips laying in the garage waiting for me to have the courage to install them.  Cheesy

+1 on the lead acid once you have drained them dead they are not reliable any longer

I will be getting a new one soon (not a lithium) as I am plain scared of fire in my house and the garage is directly below the bedroom

will try another yuasa again just hope for the best.
