Bikes are rolling into Daytona for Bike Week next week. Looks like a big turnout is on the way, with great weather.

Hey Rod, glad to see you're back and I'll let you know of any local rides.  I have seen a lot of bikes heading south already.

There’s a good chopper show at tropical tattoo Thursday. Worth going. I’m planning on it if I can get off work for a bit. Friday is the boardwalk show. Usually some interesting stuff there. I’ll get with you when I know what I’m doing.

Went to Marion Co. Speed way in Ocala Sat night to watch TT and flat track AHRMA racing.  As we walked up close enough to see,  there were the black with white skeleton leathers, out in front btw of Dave Aldana!   Talked with him, got an autograph.   Jeez that guy can ride a motorcycle!!!!!!   They will be back racing  19 Mar, same venue.

Hello all. I've never owned a car and only ever had a motorcycle. What is the purpose of bike week, for someone who has never been? I don't really like crowds, they usually make me feel isolated and depressed. Last videos I saw the booths there don't really have anything for sale at great prices, just remote versions of stores that you can order from online. Expensive beer and bar/cookout foods... What am I missing?

Not missing much agrady1995

In days gone by the entire Florida group would go and meet as a group, comradery.
I do see your point clearly and agree with you. Traffic jams, stop and go on your clutch in 1st gear. I would rather be anywhere else. Crowds with folks bumping shoulders is not for me. Some go for certain events and vendors. I research and buy what I want/need, not an impulse buyer.
It's actually the best time of year to get out and RIDE your motorcycle for me, the temps are perfect, and all the BIKERS are in Daytona, so the roads are clear in the good riding zone. Wink

I enjoy several local bike nights here with smaller manageable crowds and good eats. I find they have fewer but better vendors as well.

Am heading to the VJMC (Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club) show in Deland at the fairgrounds on Friday or Saturday. Should be lots of really good looking bikes there this year.
This is the show that used to be held in Eustis.

I have friends coming in from Tennessee today.  We are going deep sea fishing on Friday and to the supercross race on Saturday.  I'l be going to main street (Bike Week) starting Monday.  If you haven't seen the worlds worst wet T shirt contest, its a must see.  Lots of good music, especially at the bank and blues club.   coolsmiley

For the out-of-staters, some of us like the double masking.

The VJMC show and swap meet was very cool.  Then off to New Smyrna Race Track for several hours of very vintage half mile , paved, banked racing.  All HD,s except one English, JAP motorcycle.  45,. 61,. And single cyl 35.5. Cu In.  From late 1920,s  to 1940,s  stock to modified.   With some very serious racers.   This venue will be back during Biketober.

The Volutia half mile cancelled today.  Really bad tornado in Ocala.  Brandon Paasch wins his second 200 , (back to back) , by .007 of a second!  And the old saying, again comes true,. It will be cold at Bike Week!  Long underwear and flannel lined chaps tonight.
